ā€œSome of us are tired because we never stop trying to be strong.ā€

Word of the Day: Rest

Definition
To cease striving. To pause. To be still.

Biblical Meaning
Biblical rest is not earned after exhaustion. It is invited. Jesus says, ā€œCome to Me, all who are wearyā€ Matthew 11. Rest is not quitting. It is trusting God enough to stop carrying what was never meant to be yours alone.

Reflection
Rest is not weakness. It is faith in action. It is laying down the weight and believing God is still at work, even when you are still.

ā€œTrust is hardest when you want certainty but are asked to believe anyway.ā€

Word of the Day: Trust

Definition
Firm belief in the reliability, truth, or strength of someone or something.

Biblical Meaning
Trust in the Bible is not passive optimism. It is active surrender. Scripture says, ā€œTrust in the Lord with all your heartā€ Proverbs 3. Trust means leaning when you do not have proof, choosing faith when the outcome is unclear, and believing God is steady even when life is not.

Reflection
Trust is what you choose when you stop rehearsing every worst case scenario and place the outcome back in God’s hands.

ā€œSome days, staying is the bravest thing we do.ā€

Word of the Day: Abide

Definition
To stay. To remain. To not walk away.

Biblical Meaning
Jesus does not ask us to impress Him. He says, ā€œAbide in Meā€ John 15. Stay when life is loud. Stay when prayers feel unanswered. Stay when faith feels thin. Abiding is choosing connection over control, presence over performance.

Reflection
Abiding means you do not disappear when things get hard. You stay rooted. You stay open. You stay with Him.

Words shape how we see the world. This series looks at everyday words through both their definition and a biblical lens. Some will feel comforting. Some will challenge us. All are shared with grace, humility, and a desire for understanding rooted in God’s Word.

I’m going to say it plainly: people need to do better. Somewhere along the way, we traded kindness for sarcasm, empathy for ego, and morals for ā€œmind your business.ā€ We’ve normalized disrespect. We’ve normalized tearing people down. We’ve normalized having an opinion about everything except our own character.

If someone is mowing an elderly neighbor’s lawn out of kindness and strangers still find a way to mock them, the problem isn’t ā€œsocietyā€ā€¦ the problem is hearts that have grown cold. And let’s be real, this is what happens when we drift from God. When we push Him out of our values, our homes, our communities… love, empathy, and humility fade with Him.

We’re living in a world where negativity is celebrated and basic human decency is treated like weakness.
No. Absolutely not. We are better than this.

Kindness still matters. Morals still matter. Character still matters. And yes God still matters.

If the world wants to keep spiraling into cynicism, let it. But I refuse to join it. I will still choose grace. I will still choose compassion. I will still stand on the values God calls us to live out. And I will call out the ugliness of cruelty when I see it.

Do better. Be better. And remember Who we’re supposed to reflect. šŸ™āœØ

We’ve got to do better at home… and I say that with love, not judgment.

Our kids are growing up in a world that’s louder, harsher, and more confusing than ever. And as much as we want to blame the schools, the phones, the friends, the teachers… the truth hits a little closer to home.

It starts with us.
The way we speak.
The way we love.
The way we correct.
The way we pray.

Our children are watching everything.
Not just what we teach but what we tolerate.
Not just what we say but how we live.

God entrusted these little lives to us.
Not the internet.
Not the school system.
Not the world.

And if we want to raise respectful, grounded, compassionate kids… we have to be willing to lead them with intention, consistency, and faith. Even when we’re tired. Even when we’re overwhelmed. Even when they resist.

We can’t expect the world to teach what we don’t model.
We can’t expect the school to correct what we allow at home.
And we can’t pray for change while refusing to be part of it.

Our homes are the first ministry our children will ever experience.
Their first church.
Their first example of love, grace, boundaries, and accountability.

Lord, help us be parents who don’t just hope our kids grow up right…
but parents who show them the way.

Let’s do better not because we’ve failed, but because God has trusted us with something so sacred, so irreplaceable, and so worth the effort.

It starts at home. It starts with us. And it starts with Him.

There’s a special kind of comfort in days like this… when the world feels a little softer, the air a little sweeter, and gratitude rises up without trying. šŸāœØ

I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the people I love, the prayers God has answered, the strength He’s given in the hard moments, and the quiet blessings He places in my path every single day.

May your Thanksgiving be wrapped in His peace, His comfort, and His never-ending love.
Thankful beyond words today. šŸ§”šŸ™

My heart is absolutely shattered for these National Guardsmen and their families. They woke up today to serve, to protect, to stand watch so the rest of us could go about our lives safely and they deserved so much better than this. No family should ever get that call.

Violence like this is evil, plain and simple. It destroys lives, futures, and families, and it should shake every one of us to our core. I am praying fiercely for their loved ones, for comfort that only God can bring, and for the strength to carry them through the unthinkable.

Those responsible must face justice fully and without delay. Our military members give everything for us. The very least we can do is honor their sacrifice and demand accountability for this heartbreaking loss. šŸ™šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ’”

ā€œTrust the steps God is guiding you through — even the ones that feel uncertain. His path is steady, His timing is perfect, and He’s leading you exactly where you’re meant to be.ā€
