Starts WEDNESDAY! We have humongous shipment of fall denim that’s on its way (finally!) so we need to clear out the couple of pairs per style we have lingering. We’re almost to 11K followers and that merits a re-introduction! Hi. 👋 I’m Stephanie. I am the founder and owner of Magnolia & Fig, a women’s boutique in Louisville, KY.

I’m an almost-39-year old (more on that in a second) mom who started MagFig in February of 2016– seven months pregnant with my son, Emerson. MagFig and motherhood have always lived side-by-side in my mind, and my passion is helping women of all ages and stages discover (or rediscover) how their clothing can make them feel truly authentic, confident, and genuinely themselves.

I’m a solo mom and always have been— and although MagFig hasn’t been the EASIEST or most sensible path in my life, I know it’s been the right one, and that’s because of all the INCREDIBLE women I’ve been blessed to meet and get to know in the last ten and a half years. I left my corporate job (with health insurance, PTO, and maternity leave!!) in late 2015 because I believed in this dream I had to fill a void in Louisville for affordable, beautifully-curated boutique shopping that feels approachable, warm, and friendly. (No snooty intimidating boutique vibes here).

Now, back to the almost-39. I turn 39 on September 20; the day before my birthday is our Fall Open House and my BIGGEST birthday wish is to see all of your faces gathered on one day just so I can feel all the warm fuzzy vibes from all of the amazing women I’ve gotten to know over the years. It’s my first Fall (my fave season) Open House in our current location and it all just feels very special and auspicious to me.

When you support a small business, you support a dream. It sounds so cliche and overplayed, but there’s no simpler way to say it.

I opened MagFig when I was seven months pregnant, after quitting my corporate job with good benefits, maternity leave, and insurance; I had already committed to the space for the business before I found out I was pregnant. (Because, of course).

I had never owned a business before. I sure as heck had zero experience with babies. And I was insane enough to think I could do it all—and solo.

And somehow, it’s worked. Would I recommend a baby business coinciding with a baby human? No. 😂 Have I felt sometimes like I would break under all I juggle? Sure.

But you know what’s carried me through right into our eleventh year? You all. I have a wonderful support system of friends and my parents, who cheer for my business and love my son, and right now we have the best team of amaaaazing staff that we’ve ever had— but I also wouldn’t still be here without you all.

I want that to sink in so badly. If you’ve EVER ordered from us, shopped with us in person, recommended us to a friend, or shared our socials and left a good review, YOU ARE PART OF OUR SUCCESS STORY.

I’m forever humbled and grateful to all of our customers who have allowed my dream to live on for this long.

I read somewhere that millennials are the “9/11 generation”—something so life-shaping occurring during our most formative years. On the eve of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, an event that was so life-shaping for so many of you that follow us (and for me), I wanted to acknowledge it. We remember.
