Ok, so more of an author signing event than an author talk but it rhymed and here we are.

SATURDAY
Our monthly audiobook walk is this Saturday at Iroquois Park. Meet us by the playground/splash pad at 9:30AM to walk the loop, listen to books, and be with friends. This week we'll meet back at the Foxing Books book truck that will be set up at the first South End Community Market (https://www.instagram.com/southendcommunitymarket/) of the season. Come shop books, food, and all the vendors. If you are looking for Beechmont Bakeshop (https://beechmont-bakehouse-502.square.site/) this week, they will also be at the market.

Our new bookstore hours starting this Saturday will be from 11-6PM

SUNDAY
Local author J.H. Markert will be signing books with us on May 17th from 12-3PM at Foxing Books. There will be copies of his new release, DIG as well as some additional titles available for purchase at the event. Come get your books signed and chat (a form of talking) with the author.

Thank You Thank You Thank You

1. Thank you all for coming out for Indie Bookstore Day! It was a wonderful day full of all our lovely regulars AND first time customers. Although we've had our doors open for about 2.5 years, people are still discovering us and it's thrilling to see so many new faces.

3. Thank you for selling out Beechmont Bakehouse (https://www.instagram.com/beechmont_bakehouse_502/) . They brought the most they have ever brought with them to the bookstore this past Saturday and you all did not disappoint.

4. Thank you for going to see Stevee (https://www.instagram.com/yourenorockandrollfun/) and her new studio space. She said she saw a lot of Foxing people and we love to hear it. Follow her for more events and mark your calendar for the Reader's Market on May 30th where she will also be set up.

Keep Book Crawling!

The Read for the Roses book crawl continues until May 3rd. You still have all week to pick up your passport, collect your stamps, and visit all the bookstores.

CLOSED on Derby Day

We will be closed on Derby Day this year. We will be open regular hours on Sunday, May 3rd. See everyone then for the last day of the book crawl.

Independent Bookstore Day is Saturday, April 25th

Here's what we have planned for tomorrow:

- Pay What You Can Book Truck Items
- Huge selection of discounted book
- Beechmont Bakehouse (https://beechmont-bakehouse-502.square.site/) slinging breakfast and coffee till 1PM
- Stamps for everyone participating in Read for the Roses
- Young Author's Greenhouse (https://www.youngauthorsgreenhouse.org/) will be hosting writing hours upstairs from 11AM-1PM
- More Garage Sale! You all like weird odds-and-ends with your books, right?

This year Foxing Books has a goal! We noticed that we have roughly doubled our sales each year we've been open for Indie Bookstore Day. This is wild. It's crazy! Could we do it again?

2023: $649
2024: $1791
2025: $3412
2026: $6000?????????

Can't be with us that day? Place an order through our Foxing Books (https://bookshop.org/shop/foxingbooks) bookshop.org (https://bookshop.org/shop/foxingbooks) page and all commissions from the day will count towards our final goal.

You're No Rock and Roll Fun

If you are book crawling through town on Saturday, we highly recommend that when you stop by Set&Setting (https://www.setandsettingshop.com/) you also check out one of our bookseller's art studio. Stevee (https://www.instagram.com/yourenorockandrollfun/) will have her studio/shop open on Saturday, right down the hall from Set&Setting. So if you ever wondered what Stevee is working on (cutting, gluing, stamping, painting) when you're shopping at Foxing, now you can see (and purchase!) the final products.

Further details listed below.

Beechmont Bakehouse

Look. Listen. Foxing will be as busy as we get on Saturday. Which means that Beechmont (https://beechmont-bakehouse-502.square.site/) is likely to be as busy as they get on Saturday. Please, please, please plan ahead and order a Baker's Choice Box (https://beechmont-bakehouse-502.square.site/order-online) to share with you and your friends and maybe your aunt who you were going to visit anyway.

Garage Sale Saturday

We have a lot of glassware.

We have a ton of of the 135 Kentucky Derby Old Fashion glasses that will be priced at $5 each or a case for $40. Everything else will be priced as marked. There are some real gems in the mix. There is also just a lot of random plates, pet bowls, and supplies.

The book truck will be stocked with "pay what you can" books. These books really need to go. Don't need something to read? Use them to make buttons, handmade bookmarks, wreaths, and other crafty crafts.

April Schedule

Date correction: Our annual book crawl, Read for the Roses, begins April 20th, NOT April 18th.

Beechmont Bakehouse
The crew will continue to be with us on Saturdays as we build out the garage and make them a proper kitchen. Every purchase you make with Beechmont is money that goes toward equipment, ingredients, and making this little bakery happen. We couldn't be doing it without you.

Audiobook Club
We are meeting again Saturday, April 11 at 9:30AM at Iroquois Park. The turn out at the last walk was amazing and we are already looking forward to the next one. There will be an option to walk the full loop or 2 miles, and we will meet back at the bookstore for breakfast and hang outs. See you all then!

Garage Sale
As many of you know, the bookstore used to be home to Pat's Glassware, a neighborhood staple for several decades. What you may not know is that we still have some of Pat's things. In order to make room and clear some things out, we will be dusting it off and putting it out to sell. We will also be doing a book sale that day with "pay what you can" books for sale, so if you're looking for a deal mark your calendars for April 18th.

Read for the Roses APRIL 20th
Our annual bookstore crawl will also begin April 20th. Each year, all of the indie bookstores in Louisville band together to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day! Pick up your passport at any participating location starting April 18th and collect your stamps in order to win a grand prize. More details to come.

Indie Bookstore Day
The last Saturday in April is Indie Bookstore Day!!!!! Bookstores are so much more than retail locations. We are community gathering places, events spaces, and hubs for collaboration and discussion. But in order to keep the lights on, we also have to sell books. Come support us and the other bookstores across the city on Saturday, April 25th.

Beechmont Bakehouse

Check out Beechmont Bakehouse's (https://beechmont-bakehouse-502.square.site/order-online) menu this week and plan to visit them after (or before) checking out the garage sale Saturday morning. This Saturday might be a little busier because of the garage sale so don't forget to order the Baker's Choice Box (https://beechmont-bakehouse-502.square.site/order-online) to make sure you get all the goods. Hope to see you there!
