Even with only allowing the parts 4 hours to whiten in the v***r bath, it made a huge difference and the kit is nearly back to looking like it did 20 years ago when I built it in 2006. I plan to run them again, to be ready for a wedding coming up. The process is easy, even if it had to be done once or twice per year. The hardest part is finding a container.

Notice how white the calves are. They got a full day in the sun while the other parts only had 4 hours.

I am in a time crunch for an event but even just giving the parts a v***r bath for 4 hours does a good job. I feel like the better part of a day would make them a bit more white.

Whitening the 20 year old Stormtrooper costume again. We will post results as the days go by. In 2019 we used the "v***r bath" method to whiten it and it worked great and we can already see the results this time, in real time. But of course about 8 months later the plastic will go back to its yellow shade. We have heard where some clearcoat it after whitening. We should test that on a scrap piece. This also works on toys and other plastics. With the v***r bath method you don't have to clean the creme off the plastic.

Salon 40 hair creme in a dish (about 1/4" deep), sitting in the fish tank with the armor pieces works amazingly well. We first clean the plastic really well with rubbing alcohol. And then just let it sit outside for the better part of a day in the sun. Our first time was in October also (in 2019) and it was cool outside that year.. We also added to the dish each day, mixing in fresh salon 40. Unfortunately this process would have to be done at least once per year, if not twice. It isn't hard to do. It juat requires a little effort.
