On June 6, neighbors and nature lovers are invited to join the volunteer Garden Club at High Plains Environmental Center for a morning of planting, mulching, weeding and caring for the beautiful native gardens that make this community so unique.

Whether you're an experienced gardener or simply looking for a meaningful way to spend a few hours outside, all are welcome.

Meet plant of the week: Narrow-leaf Beardtongue 💜🐝

With tall spikes of lavender-pink blooms and soft silvery-green foliage, Narrow-leaf Beardtongue brings vibrant color and texture to the landscape throughout the warmer months.

Penstemon angustifolius is a hardy native perennial that thrives in Colorado’s climate, handling drought conditions while supporting pollinator-friendly habitats. Its blooms attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects, helping bring biodiversity to open spaces and gardens throughout Centerra.

Meet plant of the week: Monarch Flower 🌸🦋

Asclepias incarnata, commonly known as Showy Milkweed or Monarch Flower, is a native perennial that plays an essential role in supporting monarch butterflies and other pollinators throughout Colorado landscapes.

With clusters of soft pink blooms and silvery green foliage, this plant brings color and texture to the landscape throughout the summer months. More importantly, it serves as a critical host plant for monarch butterflies, providing a place to lay eggs and nourishment for developing caterpillars.
