One of the projects that was finished up this past summer, this Masi GC frame was in rough shape when it was taken in. Already a repaint and needing some frame alignment, it was the perfect project for a retro-modern build, but the owner wanted it to have a very classic look and feel. The frame went out to Jack at Franklin Frames to remove the stay bridges, respace the rear to 130mm, realign everything, replace the bridges and give it custom paint with minimal graphics. During that time, the owner painstakingly collected the best all alloy Record 9 speed components he could find, and sourced a very contemporary but classic looking wheelset with Miche Syntesi hubs, H Plus Son rims and Grand Bios 30mm tires. Soma stem, bar and seat post provided a classic look with modern ergonomics and adjustability. MKS Royal Nuovo pedals with clips and straps added to the classic look. The saddle was just a placeholder until the customer decided exactly what saddle he wanted.
This was a great, fun project that both my customer and I were really happy with, and it's a perfect compliment to his period-correct '74 Masi GC project that was also done in my shop.
