What We’re Reading Wednesday

5/13/26 - We’re reading The Knight & the Moth by Rachel Gillig, The Not So Lazy Schwa by Yvette Manns & Ana K. Blu, and Ear Worm by Jo Knowles and Galia Bernstein.

The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig: Prophetess goes on a quest with a grumpy hot knight? Quirky gargoyle sidekick? Sign me up!

My Thoughts: This is my second time reading this and I love all the details I’m picking up this time. I can’t wait for the next installment: The Knave and the Moon, which comes out later this year. You can preorder through Golden Hour!

The Not So Lazy Schwa by Yvette Manns & Ana K. Blu is part of the Phonics Read-Aloud series and introduces kids to Schwa, the most common vowel sound in the English Language that makes the “uh” sound.

My thoughts: This series is so great! I’ve checked several of them out from the library and they are such a fun way to reinforce reading lessons that kids are learning in elementary school.

Ear Worm by Jo Knowles and Galia Bernstein is a fun book about a little worm with a song stuck in his head wondering how it got there.

My thoughts: this book is so fun! My kid loved it and was singing the song in it during our bedtime routine!

What are you reading this week? Anything I should add to my TBR?

April was a good one! I read some good books. I went on vacation. I started running again. I had the most incredible Independent Bookstore Day and Moms and Margs events with all of YOU!

Thank you for being a reader and thank you for being a part of the Golden Hour Community!

April favorites:
Watching 📺 : The Pitt is over and now I need a new show! Send me your recs please!
Physical Books 📖: As I’ve mentioned before, I was absolutely obsessed with The Court of Venus by . You won’t regret preordering it! Links below. I also loved The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi!
Audiobooks 🎧 : I read my first S.A. Cosby book last month and it was incredible! Adam Lazarre-White, the narrator for Razorblad Tears, was phenomenal. I was in this story’s grip. I loved it. I will definitely be reading more from this author and narrator. Mr. Golden Hour and I listened to Project Hail Mary last month and it kills me that it’s not available on any other services besides Audible. The audiobook was excellent!
Food & 🍫/drink : I’ve been really loving the Chobani 30G Protein Greek Yogurt Vanilla Ice Cream Drinks for some protein on the go! They have them at Meijer and Sam’s Club (Sam’s has the best price per bottle!).
Wearing: I started running again in April and have been loving my Old Navy Pocket Leggings and bike shorts. I feel like a lot of leggings don’t stay put around the midsection and ride down with movement so I often just run in bike shorts to avoid this problem, but these ones stay in place and feel great. Plus POCKETS. I highly recommend them and even have an affiliate link if you want to shop it! They’re on sale for $20!
Other: I found this beach bag (GOGO Towel Tote) at Meijer and used it instead of an Easter basket for my kid last month. We used it for our beach vacation and it was amazing. So many pockets for all the snacks and phones and towels, and then completely mesh so all the sand fell out. It was so handy!

What did you love in April? I wanna know!

please sponsor my husband. Kidding, not kidding…😅

I never thought I’d be able to differentiate the voices of Steven Rinella, Corey Jacobsen, and the guys from The Hunting Public and regularly fall asleep to the sound of men whispering in the woods…but here I am (fun fact: I love trolling my husband by telling him to turn on my sleep music = hunting videos 😭). 🤷‍♀️ Marriage is full of surprises! Just like Mr. Golden Hour probably didn’t expect to be married to Bernie Sanders in feminine form 💁‍♀️

Good news for me and my reading hobby though!
