Alberta Johnson Hodgson
August 14, 1955 - July 31, 2026
Alberta, age 70, passed away at home surrounded by her husband and daughter.
She was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to Albert Johnson Jr., and Billie Jean Johnson. Alberta was the fourth of five daughters. She met the love of her life, Frank Hodgson, in the hallways of Odessa High School, where they were introduced by their friend Sue Hill. From that moment on, their love story was one of enduring love. They married and shared 55 wonderful years together, a love that truly lasted until death did them part. In 1976 they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Frankie Johnanna, of whom Alberta was endlessly proud of.
Alberta was also deeply proud of her Cherokee heritage and was a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She was a true warrior, facing every challenge in life placed before her with remarkable strength, courage, and determination. No matter the battle, she always fought with everything she had.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures; she loved shopping for bargains and took pride in finding the deal of the day - often using her savings by getting one in every color. Her humor and quick wit kept everyone around her laughing.
Her love for puppies was unmatched. If there was any candle she'd loved to have, would have been one with the scent of puppies breath. She was also an avid Barbie and doll collector amassing hundreds over the years.
One of Alberta's greatest joys was her great-grandson, John Michael. From the day he was born, he became the light of her life. They were inseparable, spending countless days watching movies, eating popcorn and ice cream, shopping, and sharing their mutual love of shoes. Grandpa Frank once told him he was Grandma's caretake whenever he wasn't around. John Michael embraced that role with all of his heart. He was always gentle with her and cared for her with a love beyond his years. Even during her final days, they were together.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Jr. and Billie Johnson; her sisters Eunice, Kathy, and Joy Lou; as well as her special nephew Calvin Mobley.
She is survived by her devoted husband Frank Hodgson; beloved daughter Frankie Johnanna Justice and husband John; Granddaughter Forrest Justice, Grandson Demitri Justice; Great-grandchildren John Michael, Olivia, and Abigail. Her sister Billie Gayle Guthrie; Uncle Jess Johnson and wife Charlotte; Neice Brandy Dodson who she thought the world of, and her fur babies.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
