‘Twas the Night Before
4th of July 🤯

‘Twas the night before the Fourth, when all through the shop,
Not a blower was idle, not even one stop.
The bounce houses stood loaded on trailers with care,
Knowing tomorrow they'd all be out there, somewhere.
The drivers were sleeping, exhausted in bed,
While route maps and schedules danced through each head.
The reservation book shut closed after one final call,
though the phone hadn't really stopped ringing at all.
It was the calm before chaos, the busiest day of them all,
When every last inflatable had rolled away.
Water slides, obstacle courses, castles so bright—
Every single one rented before Friday night.
Then out on the phone there arose such a chatter
Another last-minute caller with an urgent matter.
"😩I just need one slide for tomorrow," they'd plead.
"Surely you've got something! It's all that I need."
Every response from me had the same, sad refrain:
"We've been fully booked... since the middle of June, I'm afraid.😢”
"But my party's tomorrow!" they'd answer in shock.
"I just started looking around six o'clock!"
If only they'd known what
I see every year.
The Fourth doesn't suddenly sneak up from out of somewhere.
It comes every summer; the date stays the same.
Yet thousands of phone calls still remain.
From sunrise to sunset, the calls never cease,
Each hoping we've hidden one slide just in case, at least.
"We've called every company… we’re trying you once again; one last try!"
"We're sorry... we're sold out until after 4th of July."
The shop sat empty, the inventory gone,
Every blower and stake had already moved on.
The trailers were lined up, the trucks fueled and packed,
Every schedule was full—there was no turning back.
So here's to the crews who'll be up before dawn,
delivering smiles from morning till done.
To 🙋🏻♀️me who answered every call after call;
even though knowing there wasn't availability at all.
And to YOU who’s planning next year's big day,
here’s one little tip to remember, if you may:
Book early, Book sooner—don't wait until July's 4th is in sight.
‘Twas the night before the Fourth... and we were already booked solid long before tonight.
