New Bicycle & Coaster Toy Rules Now in Effect

The Ludington Police Department is sharing an updated guide to the City's bicycle, e-bike, and coaster toy regulations, recently amended by City Council on April 27, 2026 (Chapter 58, Article V, Sections 58-157 and 58-158 of the City Code).

The attached graphic summarizes key requirements for riders and parents, including helmet rules by age, where riding is and isn't permitted on sidewalks and pathways, specific restrictions in Cartier Park and other city parks, and lighting requirements for after-dark riding. It also outlines a handful of no-ride zones around the city, along with seasonal exceptions for young children riding with a parent.

Parents and guardians are reminded that they are responsible for ensuring their children follow these rules, and that violations may result in a civil infraction and fine.
