SATURDAY BASS ANGLERS
TOURNAMENT REPORT
JULY TOURNAMENT: A member-member "night" tournament on July
31/August 1, with a "paper" weighin out of the East Ramp on Lake
Nacogdoches. The weather was just about ideal for a night tournament.
Full moon from about 10PM until daylight, and about a 10mph south wind
to keep it cool and bugless. It was decided at the meeting to make it a
"team" tournament, 5 fish per boat. We had 18 members fish, and the
winners were:
1ST PLACE
15.79
2ND PLACE
3RD PLACE
4TH PLACE
5TH PLACE
BIG BASS
Gary Martz/Donny Webb
Clint Kirby/Johnny Metcalf
Willie Smith/Travis Johnson
Micharl Latham/Ben Vaughn
Danny McQuilkin/Tom Baker
Gary Martz/Donny Webb
13.96
13.39
13.01
12.87
4.56
The 9 teams weighed in a total of 45 fish, weighing 110.49 #. a per fish
average of 2.45 #. All winning teams weighed in 5 fish limits, and in
addition 5 fish limits were weighed in by Andy James/Dean Martin, Mark
Hobbs/Dennis Holder, Ken Gates/Glen McKey, and Mark Cheney/Randy
Lewis, Everyone reported in safely. It was obvious that Rayburn's water
level and 100 degree days had an effect. There were more boats on Lake
Nacogdoches than we have ever seen in a night tournament.

AUGUST TOURNAMENT: Another "night" tournament, this time on
August 28-29, a member-member "Rayburn Roadrunner" with weighin at
Cassell Boykin. It will be a "paper" weighin, with starting time Friday
afternoon to be announced at the meeting,m and weighin at 9:00AM
Saturday morning. This is not scheduled to be a "team" tournament.
Once again, the weather should be good, with the full moon on August 27.
This should make moving around at night easier, but Rayburn has
continued a slow drop in level. This may be a "pick your spot and stay
there night".
AUGUST MEETING: On the usual Thursday night, August 27, at the
Lifegate Church, 2511 Lufkin Ave. This is directly across Lufkin Ave from
the High School. Starting time will be about 7:00PM, and we will have
fellowship and drawing prizes.
JULY ICE CREAM SOCIAL: The July meeting/social went well,
except the attendance was a little less than expected. Many thanks to
everyone that came, and those that brought food items.
Most everyone is probably aware that JAMES SLACK underwent serious
heart surgery in Houston several days ago. We don't have a lot of
information about how he's doing, but the surgery was successful and he
is back home. Prayers for his eventual complete recovery.
