What an incredible entertainer, he played for three hours straight. It was an honor to meet him and him give me great feedback on one of my builds.

I've had some very memorable moments in my life and three years ago was one of those moments. I've listened to Ricky Skaggs since I was just a little fella. Never would I have dreamed I would get to meet him. I also never would have dreamed I could actually build a mandolin. Meeting Ricky and getting his feedback seemed like an impossible dream. I think I had just finished my sixth when he did a show in my hometown and I was able to meet with him after. I got a lot more than just feedback. Over the next several months we met several times and | was able to customize a Buford that was perfect for him, The Buford #7.
I love his music and the energy in his performances. He has never shown me or my family anything but kindness and l'll forever be a fan. Thanks Ricky and thanks Russ Carson for always making it happen!

I’m still building mandolins and I love every minute of it!

P.S. I also got to play his main mandolin and his Loar!!!!

I’ve spent some time with the spirit varnish on this one. Guitar #2 at Buford Mandolins and some times guitars. Same brace pattern as the first one like a 37’ D28. Finally done!
