💜 OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH 💜

This October, Southeastern Family Violence Center (SFVC) is joining communities across the country to raise awareness, break the silence, and remind survivors that they are not alone.

Domestic violence is not love. It is about power and control. Abuse can take many forms—including physical, emotional, verbal, sexual, and financial abuse, isolation, and stalking.

💜 Break the Silence.
💜 Stop the Hurt.
💜 You deserve to feel safe.
💜 You deserve support.

SFVC provides free and confidential services to survivors and their children throughout Robeson and Scotland Counties, including shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, support services, and referrals.

Lumberton, let’s get the Halloween plans on the calendar before the “What time is trick-or-treating?” questions start making their rounds.

Door-to-door trick-or-treating in the City of Lumberton is Saturday, October 31, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

You’ve got a month to get the costumes and candy ready. We’re aware some of that candy will need to be purchased twice. That’s between you and the empty bag.

A few things to remember when the night gets here:

• Keep younger children with an adult and know where older children are headed.
• Bring a flashlight or glow stick. Make sure costumes allow kids to see where they’re going and get there without tripping.
• Use sidewalks where available, check for traffic before crossing, and visit homes with porch lights on.

Drivers, slow down and watch for children. They’re focused on candy. We need you focused on the road.

To report suspicious activity, call 910-671-3845. For emergencies, dial 911.

Save this post, share it with your neighbors, and help us make it a safe, fun Halloween for everyone.
