Several spooky events at WhataBoba!!
Happy October! Spooky Season Has Arrived!
October is here, which means Spooky Solomons is about to get very busy! There are ghost tours, haunted history, psychic tours, campfires, cruises, paint parties, presentations, Halloween events, and plenty of Southern Maryland legends and lore. I have a lot going on this month, but here are a few events worth putting on your calendar.
Historical Ghost Tours — throughout October
The regular Spooky Solomons Historical Ghost Tour will be running throughout the month, and on most nights I am offering TWO tours. Some dates are already beginning to fill, so check the schedule and grab the night that works for you. October is definitely the best time of year to wander Solomons after dark!
October 3 & 10 — Free: Haunted Southern Maryland at the St. Mary’s Arts Council
Spooky Solomons is partnering with SOMD Photography and the St. Mary's County Arts Council to share the stories behind some of Southern Maryland’s haunted places, accompanied by photographs submitted by members of our community. We’ll even take a walk over to the Old Leonardtown Jail and Moll Dyer Rock. Starts at 1pm with the walk around 3pm. FREE!
October 9, 16 & 21 — Halloween Ceramic Paint Parties at WhataBoba.
Fran from the Craft Cat will be bringing some fantastic Halloween ceramics to WhataBoba for three paint parties. Some walk-ins may be available, but if you have your eye on a particular piece, reserve it in advance. Visit The Crafty Cat Mobile Arts & Crafts Parties for details and tickets.
October 11, 19, and 27 — FREE talks at WhataBoba
Three nights, three different subjects! October 11 (5pm) Solomons Ghost Stories NOT Told on the Historical Ghost Tour; October 19 (2pm) Witches of Maryland and October 27 (1pm) Southern Maryland Legends & Lore. The talks are free, although while you’re here, I hope you'll try a delicious WhataBoba drink!
October 13 & 22 — Psychic Ghost Tours (7pm)
Lynn from Winged Spirit joins me for two special Psychic Ghost Tours, and these are selling quickly. I’ll share the history and legends as we make our way around Solomons, while Lynn adds an entirely different perspective to the stories and locations we visit. Tickets are available through Winged Spirit. Also, follow Winged Spirit for more events and learning experiences!
October 16 — Ghost Stories Around the Campfire at Goodman Farm
Come out to Goodman Farm for an autumn evening around the fire while I share spooky stories from Southern Maryland. It is also a great opportunity to see what this wonderful local farm has to offer. Tickets are available through Goodman LLC Farm.
October 24 — Halloween in the Garden at Annmarie Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center
Spooky Solomons will be joining the fun at the famous Halloween in the Garden! Stop by, grab some candy, and talk with us about Southern Maryland history, ghosts, legends, and lore. Tickets are available through Annmarie Garden.
October 28 — Southern Maryland Legends & Lore at St. Mary’s Library
I’ll be presenting some of my favorite strange, spooky, and legendary tales from across Southern Maryland. The presentation is FREE, but registration is required through St. Mary's County Library.
October 30 & 31 — Haunted Cruises with Big Kahuna Cruises
Ghost stories are even better on the water! Join Big Kahuna Cruises and Spooky Solomons for two haunted cruises, with tales from our haunted shores and waterways and the always-great hospitality of the Big Kahuna crew. Tickets are available through Big Kahuna Cruises.
Halloween Night — Spooky Solomons Halloween Dinner at No Thyme to Cook
Our third annual Halloween Dinner returns! This has become one of my favorite events of the year: a delicious dinner inspired by a haunted cookbook, ghost stories between courses, and, once the final course has been served, a nighttime tour of some of Solomons’ most haunted locations. Tickets tend to disappear quickly, so if you want to spend Halloween night with us, get yours through No Thyme to Cook .
And somehow, in between all of that, I’ll still be telling ghost stories around Solomons nearly every night!
