Breaking News: Artven. just delivered an old-fashioned vending machine?

You may have seen this on The BayNet recently. We are excited to have the second vending machine of this type in Southern Maryland. More are coming.

You never quite know what you'll find inside — Pokémon cards, little surprises, and even original art cards created by local artists!

Some of these are ACEOs — Art Cards, Editions and Originals — miniature works of art traditionally measuring just 2.5 × 3.5 inches, the same size as a standard trading card.

We love finding fun and unusual ways to support local artists and local ideas, and our little vending machine gives artists another way to get their work out into the community.

Next time you're at WhataBoba, take a look. You might just walk away with a tiny piece of local art.

The last few days have seen some improved sales, and we want to thank everyone who has come out to enjoy a delicious drink at WhataBoba!

We also appreciate the community’s support as we make some small changes to the shop and our menu.

One change we’re testing is sugar-free options. We now have Sugar-Free Strawberry, Peach, Coconut, and Raspberry available in fruit teas, with lemonades coming soon.

For now, this is just a test.

To be completely truthful, sugar-free syrup tastes... well... not always great. And we don’t want to sell anything we wouldn’t drink ourselves! But we’ve found some options we think are pretty decent, so we’re going to give them a try and see what you think.

And there’s more coming over the next few weeks:

A very high-quality Vietnamese Oolong tea is coming to the menu. We’re excited to offer a tea where the quality and flavor of the tea itself really gets to be the star.

A simpler menu and ordering experience to make it easier to find exactly what you want.

A new community events calendar with all the classes, workshops, gatherings, and other great things happening at WhataBoba.

Tea classes and tastings, where we’ll explore high-quality teas from around the world, learn how and where tea grows, and discover just how different one tea can be from another.

And some local art is coming to our walls! We’ve received a tremendous response from local artists who are currently creating unique pieces for us to display in the shop. We can’t wait to fill WhataBoba with their work and show off some of the incredible talent we have right here in our community.

We’re making these changes a little at a time, listening to your feedback, and figuring out what works best for our shop and our community.

I am really excited that we will soon be offering a new product line at the shop.

Today (Sunday), from 12pm until 2pm, I’ll be at WhataBoba offering samples of a new product line that we’ll soon be carrying in the shop: Vietnamese Oolong Tea!

This beautiful tea is grown in the highlands around Bảo Lộc, Lâm Đồng, Vietnam. The higher elevation, abundant rainfall, and frequent cloud cover create conditions where the tea grows more slowly, helping develop a wonderfully rich, smooth, and complex flavor.

I absolutely love this tea and have loved experimenting with it. In fact, I think it has officially become my new favorite tea, and I can’t wait to start offering it at WhataBoba.

It doesn’t need sugar or added flavors to be delicious. Although it is ok to enjoy some additions if you so wish.

Premium tea means the tea itself is the star of the show.

Stop by WhataBoba between 12pm and 2pm today and try some for yourself. I’ll be there pouring samples and talking tea!

The Southern Maryland Plant Nerds hosted Plant Bingo tonight, and we were so excited to be part of it! Participants got to enjoy the perfect combination of bingo, beautiful plants, fun prizes, and boba tea 🪴🧋

A huge thank-you to the Southern Maryland Plant Nerds for hosting such a fun event and bringing the plant-loving community together!
