Look what God did. 🥹🖤
Five years of H&R Photography.
I’ve been trying to figure out what to say about five years of this, and I don’t think I’ll ever have the right words.
I’ve photographed thousands, and I mean THOUSANDS, of families. I’ve watched babies grow up, families change, and entire chapters of people’s lives happen through my camera. Somehow, a little dream of mine became five years worth of other people’s memories.
This started with a little girl who loved taking pictures. One random summer, my Uncle Garry saw something in me and bought me my first camera. Years later, at 22 years old, I took that love and built H&R from the ground up.
I had no idea where it would take me.
I just knew I loved it.
And I think my work is what it is because I care so damn much. 😂 I care about your babies growing up. I care about the mama who hasn’t felt like herself in forever feeling beautiful again. I care about the pictures you’re going to pull out 20 years from now.
I’ve captured some of the last pictures people ever took with someone they loved. I’ve gotten messages months or years later telling me what those pictures mean now. Those are the ones that break me. There are galleries and people I’ll carry with me forever.
That’s when you realize this was never just about taking pretty pictures.
These five years haven’t always been easy. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve been compared to others. I’ve had people be cruel. I’ve cried over this business and questioned whether I was good enough more times than I’d like to admit.
I’ve also stayed up way too late re editing galleries because my ADHD brain decided one picture needed six versions. 😭😂 I’ve gotten overwhelmed. I’ve fallen a little behind(I apologize). I’ve learned that I’m human and I cannot make everybody happy.
But I kept going.
I learned. I grew. I found my style. I found my people. And somewhere along the way I stopped trying to be the photographer for everybody and became the photographer I was supposed to be.
H&R has also grown up right alongside my family.
Jacob has lived every season of this with me. The late nights, crazy schedules, tears, and every random idea I decide I HAVE to do immediately. 😂
And my girls are literally woven into it.
H&R. Hazeleigh and Rosaleigh.
Sorry Winnie girl, I wasn’t rebranding. 😂🥹
They’ve shared their mama with this business for five years, and I hope one day they understand how much of it was for them.
There have been days some of the worst things in my own life were happening while I was showing up to photograph some of the best moments in yours. That’s the part you don’t always see online.
H&R isn’t a big box company. It’s me. A wife, a mama, a daughter, a friend, and a real person who has poured her whole freaking heart into this thing.
And I’m proud of what I built.
But I’ll never take the credit without giving it right back to God.
I truly believe He gave me this gift, gave me the heart for it, and put the right people in front of my camera. Every time I thought I couldn’t keep going, somehow He made a way.
And you guys trusted me enough to be part of it.
Whether you booked 22 year old baby photographer Kansas, found me while you were here on vacation, come back every year, shared my work, or told somebody else to book me, you helped turn something I loved into the way I help provide for my babies.
Five years later, you’re still choosing me.
That part will never be lost on me.
Thank you for trusting me with your people, your memories, and some of the biggest moments of your lives.
Five freaking years. 🥹🖤
22 year old me had absolutely no idea what God was about to do.
