Joel here. Sometimes it is best just to rip the band-aid off quickly so here it goes, After 14 years (and 7 different locations) of operation in the Lynnwood/Everett area, Phantom Zone Comics is closing our Alderwood Mall Location on June 21st and moving the store to Chicago.
For those of you who don’t know, my Wife and I moved to Chicago a little less than a year ago and I have been traveling back and forth a couple of times a month to check in and work on projects in the store while Orion and the rest of the crew did the day to day stuff in the store. Unfortunately, this is not something I can continue to do.
If you have a subscription box with us, we will be having conversations with each of you about options for your box. If you have an unused gift card, you can use them until our last day and if you can’t get in before then you can still use your gift cards on our website (with a little assistance).
I am proud of the store we have built here. Phantom Zone Comics has truly become the sort of comic shop I had dreamed of when we opened our first location in March of 2012 in a 350 square foot office space in Meadowdale. Our current and former team members have worked unflaggingly over the years to make my dream a reality, and I cannot thank them enough for all of their hard work.
I also want to thank all of you, our customers and friends, for also helping to make this store what it is. We are here because of you. You have stuck with us through all our moves from Lynnwood to Everett and back to Lynwood. You have come out to support us at events like ECCC and Free Comic Book Day. You have come by every Wednesday for NEW COMIC BOOK DAY and it has truly been one of the great joys in my life to have met you all!
