FluteWorks Seattle is the Northwest's center for fine flutes & expert repairs. Flutes by BRANNEN, BURKART, HAYNES, POWELL, ALTUS, MIYAZAWA, MURAMATSU, SANKYO, AZUMI, DI ZHAO, RESONA, SONARE, TREVOR JAMES. Flutist Courtney Westcott began the company in 1999 and was known for her excellent work until 2019 when she sold the company to Erik Nugent. The same year of 1999 was when Erik Nugent began work

ing at Verne Q. Powell flutes as a Finisher. He worked as a finisher for David Williams, as the Repair Manager for Haynes, and as the Quality Control Manager at Nagahara flutes for 9 years. After a few years of starting his own flute repair company in Little Rock, Arkansas, he purchased FluteWorks from Courtney and has been welcomed with open arms by the flute community in Washington.

Something exciting happened on Friday! 🔑

Finding a new space for our shop has been 2 years in the making and the moment has finally come. Friday, we picked up the keys from Joe Petosa of Petosa Accordions. And now the busy work begins! While our services will be expanding (more updates to come), FluteWorks remains a shop committed to our flute community both locally and across the country. The projected opening date of our new shop is October 3rd, 2026 — thank you to everyone who has been following us on our journey so far!

As Reanna Lee plays a section of Enescu’s Cantabile et Presto, the Powell Conservatory offers a vibrant tone and an easily accessible dynamic range. This flute features an all silver body and keys with a 14k aurumite (silver over 14k gold) headjoint that allows notes, particularly in the third octave, to speak with clarity. It also has a C # trill, D # roller, pinless mechanism, Straubinger pads, and 10k gold springs.

Above is a Miyazawa Classic just overhauled by Fluteworks, featuring a solid silver headjoint and body, silver plated keys, pinned mechanism, felt pads, open holes, with a B foot. Showcased by Reanna Lee playing Debussy’s Syrinx, this flute has a rich sound and colorful tone palette to match an array of musical expressions.

Above is a Miyazawa 202 heavy wall flute with modern pads, a pinless mechanism, low B, open hole, with an MX-2 headjoint included. While listening to Fauré’s Fantaisie played by Reanna Lee, we can hear this instrument’s excellent projection and expressive tone colors.

Spotlight on certified pre-owned piccolos 🪈

Just overhauled by Fluteworks, this Hammig 650/3 handmade grenadilla wood piccolo has a silver plated mechanism, split E, high G # mechanism, Straubinger pads, and a Hammig cut headjoint. Demonstrated through Donjon’s Élégie Étude played by Reanna Lee, this instrument effortlessly produces a sweet, crisp sound, even in fast passages of music.

Spotlight on certified pre-owned flutes 🪈

Take a pause to listen to Saint-Saën’s Romance, Op.37 played by Reanna Lee on a Muramatsu DS. This all silver flute features 0.45 mm heavy wall tubing, split E mechanism, C # trill, D # roller, B foot, offset G, and open drawn toneholes. These features all work together to make a resonant rich tone accessible across all registers.

FluteWorks is launching a new name and a new logo!!
Don’t worry, we are still the same quality flute shop you have known and trusted for years. Most people have been referring to our shop as “FluteWorks” since our founding in 1999. This change is reflecting what the world has already been calling us! Our expanding website and reputation for repairs that are being shipped in from all over the country means we are taking on a national outlook. The next few months promises to be an exciting time for us! Saturday, October 3rd, is the day we are targeting for opening in our new commercial space in Lynnwood, just a 15 minute walk from the Light Rail and much closer to I-5. We hope to see you soon!
