⚠️⚠️ Long-post… but, so worth the read ⚠️⚠️
Reading Gods word, on the beach, just hits different ✝️🏝️🫶🏻
Easter this year, was a blessed and cursed day all in one. The night before Easter, my best friend, my dad and I were extremely blessed to have delivered Egg-My-Yards to 34 homes- DOUBLE what we did last year in 2025. 2600+ eggs hand stuffed. 100 kids served.
That day, we went to church as a family. We visited my father-in-law and my parents for Easter. All the normal holiday stops.
Then 10pm, Easter night my world stopped. My mom called me (30 minutes after we left their house) and said my Grandma (her mom) was found unresponsive and they are headed to the hospital.
I’ve always been close to my grandma. I grew up living 2- doors down from them. She and my papa were always doing things with us.
I put my clothes back on, and headed to the hospital. My youngest son was in tears because this made night #6 I didn’t lay with him to go to sleep because of all the prep Easter took for ASSM.
We sat in the waiting room and 10 minutes later, they called us into triage. The chaplain came in and my heart stopped. She had suffered a massive brain bleed from a hemorrhagic stroke and it “wasn’t survivable.”
She was put on a vent, but didn’t pass until 4 days later.
The next week and a half were a blur. I don’t remember a whole lot.
Fast forward 6 weeks. During that time, my heart, my mind, my body, my soul just gave up— I was facing battles that were naked to the human eye. I felt myself going down a path that I knew too well as a teen girl.
I was doing everything I could to try to keep going, but some days, my energy was spent just moving from one position to another.
I’ve contemplated even posting about it because, I didn’t want to be seen as “weak.”
I didn’t want to be seen as a “failure.”
I didn’t want to be seen as “another entrepreneur who couldn’t make it.”
ASSM was built from the ground up.
An idea I had sitting in my garage one random night.
I wanted to be a safe heaven for friends/family/customers to go to who needing some financial relief but STILL afford and have access to the products they needed AND wanted.
I’ve thought about closing up the shop, for good. What would that look like? Would anyone even notice?
I’ve thought about selling ASSM… but, would anyone even entertain that idea & still keep the values and morals I’ve built into the name? That’s important to me.
The days I just couldn’t move, I felt catatonic, bone-crushing fatigue— my mind kept racing. Toxic anxiety-filled my mind that made me restless and even more exhausted than I was before.
Something had to change. I couldn’t take it anymore.
I started going to church. No obligations made. No forcing. Just trying to keep moving.
I started picking up my bible.
I played russian roulette, if you will, with my bible. I didn’t know where to start…
I took my bible, and started thumbing through it, with my eyes closed until I “felt” like I needed to stop. GOD WAS LISTENING.
I continued this over the course of a few days and every single time I did this, I felt like I needed every word I read from scripture, like every drop of rain a farmer needs during a season of drought.
I realized I wasn’t alone. I felt peace when I read God’s word. Something I haven’t felt in a long time. Life is hectic, chaotic, one unnecessary stress bomb dropped after another. My soul needed a break.
I NEED the bible. I NEED the peace. I NEED a break, or this break that God conveniently gave me, because I didn’t listen to him the first time, or myself, or anyone really—
I’m working on myself. I’m working on bringing ASSM back to life. I’m working on my faith journey and finding peace.
ASSM means a lot to me. My family & my faith mean a lot to me. My customers mean a lot to me.
I pray that ASSM gets back on her feet. I’m still here. Im still pushing new things and new inventory. I’m just slower because I HAVE TO.
So, if you’re still reading- thank you! Thank you for allowing me to be vulnerable in a digital world that will put you on blast faster than you can blink.
Thank you for always supporting me, and allowing me to display my faith in a business that I hold very near and dear to my heart.
I’ve got plans for ASSM— but, this time, I’m doing it Gods way! 🙌🏼
