A few years ago after the kids had all grown up & moved on & we had finally stopped fostering, I was looking for a hobby to fill some of the new found time on my hands. My love of Antique & Vintage items seemed like the perfect thing to fill a few hours a week & give me something to do that I truly LOVED!! That few hours a week quickly became 40+ hours a week going to auctions & viewing online auctions to purchase a few small vintage & antique items to get me started! I grew up spending a lot of time with my maternal grandmother dragging me through thrift stores, vintage shops, garage sales...and the list goes on and on. I absolutely loved it, and seemed to have a good eye for items that people wanted that brought them an emotional connection through examples like 'Grandma's Old Tea Set' that was used in their family for decades and is just missing the creamer jug that had broken 15 years ago & needs replaced even though it's difficult to find, 'Dad's Favorite Baseball Player Cards', 'That Precious Doll Someone Had, Held & Loved From Age 2 to 14' that somehow disappeared over the years, etc. This hobby has become so much more & incredibly emotionally rewarding. I have multiple Thank You Cards & Letters from people expressing their gratitude, many through tears, that fill my office walls here at home to always remind me what this hobby had become really all about. Tony loves it too & is just beginning to partner up with me to get out there & find things that I am not so great at finding that people really want or need.
