All Others Pay Cash
Organized religion has played a crucial role in our history, and continues to be a factor today. For many people, it is a source of hope and joy and a belief in a better future, whether in this life or beyond. For others, “going to church” may be more of a social event or simply a lifetime habit. Whatever the reason, people all over the world worship on a regular basis, and it’s big business.
Over the years, I have tried and failed to embrace theology, but it is both contradictory and illogical to me. I am, at best, agnostic, because although I do believe that I am, that we are, here by design, I can’t believe our origin story. I learned more about religion studying Art History than studying the bible, and the last church I attended passed at least four different collection plates for various projects, including the pastor’s birthday. I no longer seek the answers from theologians. I now have a different kind of faith. All others pay cash. “Humanity…and Other Myths” at until September 26.

Kiss Me, You Fool
Like so many little girls, I read the story of the frog prince, and thought it was ridiculous.
But then I thought about it. How many figurative frogs have I kissed in my own quest for a mate? How many men with “potential,” how many who, for whatever reason, turned out to be just frogs? They all had claims about the “evil witches” in their pasts, but those were mostly excuses that were usually accepted by those still seeking princes. It’s not uncommon for us to try and try again to find happiness with another person. The thing to remember is that the most important relationship in your life is the one you have with yourself. Joy comes from within, and neither frog nor prince will change that. “Humanity…and Other Myths” at until September 26.
