Being a collector my entire life I have become picky. I like the one of a kind. The extremely rare or the extremely early stuff. If you can find it on Google Lens, I don't want it. Leave that for the masses. I'd like to thank the entire Glenn & Joie Mitts family for gifting me this piece. I'm beyond grateful. In 1907 the people of Ten Mile decided they needed a "Town Hall." A place where the community could come together for party's, plays and the like. They created "The Ten Mile Stock Co." to raise funds. Each share was sold for $10. The one pictured is one of Dr. Raines (He bought several). They sold a total of 95. What is awesome is the fact that I have all of them as they were returned to be cashed in along with about 50 "blanks" all in the original book. A Hall was built. In the early years of my store ownership I heard of party's during prohibition (Lily found one such bottle and was offered $100 for it), the kids plays, the potluck dinners, etc...The Hall was Razed nearly 30 years ago. Chuck & Linda Wilson saved the advertising curtain and it now resides in The Macon Co. Historical Society. The kitchen cupboard adorns my wife's kitchen, and the election tables (one of which has legs made of Model T axels) sets in storage and were once used for our Ten Mile Reunions. Ten Mile is still the best place in the world to live. I'm sure someone out there could run the Ten Mile Store better than myself, but for nearly 17 years I have given every Saturday up to keep it going. I'll do it for another 17 years. We appreciate EVERYONE, regardless if you buy something every weekend or once a year. YOU are the reason a unique store like Ten Mile can exist. A store has been here since 1850 when Hwy DD & AA were part of a stagecoach road. Stay tuned as I will be sharing an artifact of Ten Mile that pre-dates 1850 soon.
