Lagan Music encounters!

Perry Roth and Hannah Hickman bumped into each other at the shop today during drop off/pick up. It was a fun hang, and a great way to wrap up the week before vacation!

Shop and web store will be closed for the next week for some much needed r&r with Alison Geesey Lagan and family. Keep an eye on the stories if you want to see some beach bum behavior✌🏼

Cheers to 10 years! 🎉 🥃

Thanks for trusting me with your horns, thanks for trying my products, thanks for following along on the gram. Here’s to many more! ✌🏼

Half an inch (~13mm) can make a big difference!

It’s my understanding that a lot of VIs around this serial number (70,###) don’t “hang” well. This easy fix can make the horn so much easier to play. Fingers that were constantly working to force the horn forward can now be free to play *all* of the licks.

This was done as the very first part of the overhaul process. Now on to the rest!

This stunning WO37 Yani soprano marks the 10th (and final) COA of June. It’s be a *wild* month but glad to make it through relatively unscathed.

Lucas Ingle sent this one up form North Carolina for some work before upcoming international travel. This is the first ever COA on this horn as evidenced by all of the loctite still on the pivot screws from the factory.

Apparently there’s a shortage of 8mm Pro pads at the factory because I frequently see them mismatched on these horns 😅 as evidenced in the last 2 pictures. Old, stained leather that seems to be absorbing water during use on high G and neck octave (not pictured).

I played tested this one a little longer than usual 🤩

Sometimes the best option is to start from scratch. Tried to match the BSS aesthetic as much as possible! Don’t want anyone to know I was there 🤫

…except all of you I guess 😂

Monday morning glue talk.

I complain a lot about the state of manufacturing (across all industries) these days. And while I do have my own preferences as a player and technician, I truly try to remain as unbiased as possible.

So in an effort to not be a hater all the time here’s a more positive change we’ve seen recently. This and no more squishy natural cork as crucial adjustment materials!

We see this a lot on new Selmer necks unfortunately. It can make the whole horn feel off but luckily the fix is as easy as replacing the neck cork with enough glue and a good overlap on the seam.

You don’t need any fancy machines to check either. If you notice water running down the neck while you’re practicing, chances are high you’ve got a leaking cork.
