Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and respective family members to whom play their own role as such! I remember fishing with my dad with some minnows. I had a snoopy pole with a zebco style reel. The bass were near the surface and I remember a dear friend of ours that was with us saying, throw right where those ripples are at. I remember hitting exactly where those ripples were forming. A few seconds later, boom, fish on! It was a decent size bass! Looking back, it had to be about 3 or more pounds. For a kid with a snoopy pole, that was about the best thing ever. I remember fighting that fish. I remember feeling the gears grinding as I was trying to turn the handle as hard as I could. It was a struggle! I’ll never forget that moment with my dad among many others. Fishing is more to me than killing time and catching fish. It’s a zen. Fishing has taught me a lot about life over the years. Patience is one of the most valuable lessons I can take from my experiences thus far. If you’ve ever seen disney’s ‘the lion king’, you’ll know that you should never forget who you are, don’t take life so seriously and always fight for what you believe in. Always know a good dad will be by your side. Even when our loved ones are not here with us anymore, there’s subtle reminders that remind us to be patient, kind, respectful and of all else that we need to remember to laugh! As timone and pumba famously said, “hakuna matata”, it means no worries. As the bible says, do not worry about tomorrow for today has enough troubles of its own. Even with all our ups and downs, I wouldn’t trade the good moments we’ve shared for anything. As Joe Walsh famously sang, life’s been good to me so far. I hope to share a some of the tools you’ve helped give me to use for life to my son, your grandson. Thanks, Dad( Chris) ❤️
