🧵✨ My Favorite Sewing Notion! ✨🧵

Hands down, one of my favorite sewing notions is my custom seam ripper and stiletto from Kenny Dion 💕

They created this custom color combination just for me, and I absolutely LOVE having this set right next to my machine.

The stiletto is perfect for holding fabric in place and keeping everything right where I want it while sewing. And, of course, my seam ripper is always close by and ready to go… because we all know those stitches don’t always cooperate! 😂🪡

Not only are they super useful, but they’re pretty enough to leave out on my sewing table—and that makes them even better!

My favorite fabric to use for bag making is definitely vinyl! ❤️ I love mixing in cork and waxed canvas to add a little extra texture and personality.

For linings, I’m all about waterproof canvas, bonded nylon, or anything durable that can hold its own without needing extra interfacing. Less bulk, fewer steps, and a sturdy finished bag—yes, please!

I love choosing materials that not only look amazing but also make a bag that’s built to be used and enjoyed. 👜✂️

The best sewing advice I’ve ever gotten? Go slow. 🧵✂️

Sewing isn’t a race. Taking your time makes such a difference, especially when it comes to those clean, straight stitches that make a finished project look amazing.

And if those stitches aren’t quite right? Get the seam ripper out, pick them out, and do it again. Yes, it takes a little longer, but you’ll be so much happier with the finished project. ❤️

I’ve learned that sometimes slowing down is actually the fastest way to get a result you love.

Seam rip. Repeat. Create. Be happy. 🪡💕

🧵 Current WIP: Quilt Top to Tote Bags! 👜

A few weeks ago, I made this quilt top without really knowing exactly where it was headed. Well… now it has a plan! I cut the quilt top into six panels, and I’m quilting each one individually before turning them into tote bags.

I’m usually an instant-gratification sewer—once I start something, I want to keep going until it’s DONE. 😂 But this project has been a little different.

It’s actually become a bit of a creative reset for me. I’ve been enjoying working on it in stages—quilt a little, walk away, work on something else around the house, then come back when I’m ready for the next step.

Sometimes slowing down and simply enjoying the process is just as satisfying as the finished project. ❤️

Next up… bag making! I can’t wait to see how all six totes turn out.

The Fabric I’m Most Intimidated By 🩷

This beautiful dusty pink floral embroidered lace has been in my stash for about 10 years! It came in a mystery box, and the moment I saw the gorgeous embroidery, sheer mesh, and scalloped edge, I fell in love.

And then…I was too intimidated to cut into it. 😂

It’s one of those fabrics that feels too pretty to mess up, so I’ve continued to admire it instead of actually sewing with it.

But I keep picturing it as an elegant evening clutch, maybe paired with a soft coordinating fabric and beautiful gold hardware. One of these days I’m going to be brave, make that first cut, and finally turn it into something beautiful.

Until then, back into the stash it goes. 😂🧵✂️

Today’s prompt is “Show Your Sewing Space” 🧵✂️

Welcome to my creative chaos! 😂 My sewing space has definitely taken over a few different areas, and it seems to keep growing, changing, and evolving right along with my creativity.

But really… can you ever have too much fabric, too many sewing machines, or too much storage space? I think not! 😂 Every pile of fabric is a future project, every machine has a purpose, and somehow I still need just one more shelf.

It may look a little chaotic, but this is where the magic happens. 💕🪡

The most intimidating pattern I’ve made has to be the Melona Business Bag! 👜✂️

That unique front design was definitely a challenge. Getting all those angles just right takes patience, practice, and—most importantly—following the steps! Skip or change something along the way, and suddenly the whole design can look flat or start going in a completely different direction. 😅

But you know what they say… practice makes perfect! With each one I made, I became a little more confident with the technique, and I absolutely love how they turned out.

Every single bag is unique, and seeing that amazing dimensional front come together makes all the challenging parts completely worth it. ❤️

Sometimes the patterns that intimidate us the most end up being the ones we’re the proudest of!

You found that AMAZING fabric. 😍 You loved it so much that you’ve been hoarding it for YEARS, waiting for just the right project.

Then it happens—you finally find the PERFECT pattern! 🙌

You gather all your supplies, get everything ready, and start cutting...

And then... 😳

Your last pattern piece needs to be 16 inches.

You cut it at 12.

NOOOOOO! 😭✂️

And, of course, there isn't enough of that precious fabric left to cut another one.

So what do you do?

You improvise! 💡

I found a coordinating fabric that worked beautifully with it and changed up the original plan. And that piece I accidentally cut too short? I wasn't about to waste it! I turned it into a little coin pouch to use inside the bag. ❤️

Was it a sewing fail? Technically, yes. 😂 I measured wrong and cut into fabric I'd been saving forever.

But sometimes those little mistakes force us to get creative—and the finished project can turn out even better than what we originally planned.

And one thing is for sure...

I will ALWAYS remember: measure twice before cutting into that special fabric! ✂️📏😂

Whatever you call me… I’m pretty sure SEWCIOPATH is the most accurate. 😂🧵✂️

I’m happiest when I’m surrounded by fabric, thread, patterns, and at least three projects I absolutely did not need to start. 🤣

Sewing has been part of my life since I was little, and after all these years, I still get excited watching a pile of fabric turn into something I created with my own two hands.

And yes… I will probably interrupt you to say, “LOOK HOW COOL THIS IS!” while showing you some tiny sewing detail I’m ridiculously proud of. 😂

Here’s to another project… because apparently I don’t know how to stop. ❤️

I learned to sew when I was just five years old, inspired by my mom, who lovingly made so many of our clothes—including this orange blossom dress that she sewed and embroidered for me. 🧡 Watching her and my sisters create made me want to do the same, and looking back now, I love knowing that this is where my own lifelong love of making things began. 🧵✂️💕
