Every time I stay somewhere like this I have the same thought.

I could do it.

Not because I hate people. Hell, I actually like people.

I just think I’d be better at life if this was home.

I’d still work. I’d still write every day. I’d still answer emails. The only thing I’d really need is decent WiFi and enough signal to tell everyone, “I’ll get to it after I finish my coffee.”

The rest?

A couple dogs. Maybe a goat. Deer wandering through the yard. Birds raising hell every morning. A garden that constantly reminds me I’m not nearly as smart as I think I am.

That’s enough.

I don’t need to disappear.

I just need enough trees between me and everyone else that if Bigfoot knocks on the door…

I’m probably inviting him in before most people.
