Confession time: Iโve always struggled a bit with self-promotion. ๐
For a long time, my mindset was just to put my head down, do the work, and let the product (or in a former life, my skills) speak for themselves. I never wanted to be the loudest voice in the room.
But a Facebook exchange I had last week really gave me pause. It reminded me that if I don't talk about the cool, behind-the-scenes things we do, how is anyone supposed to know about them? So, Iโm stepping out of my comfort zone today to share something Iโm genuinely proud of.
In case you haven't heard, we work really hard to make Wisco Home Goods as environmentally friendly as possible. Itโs not just an afterthought for us; itโs baked into how we operate.
Here is what that actually looks like in practice:
๐ฑ Our Wax: We strictly use soy wax for our candles. It doesn't require irrigation, and it has an incredibly short travel distance from the farm, to the factory, to our doors.
โป๏ธ Jar Exchange: We offer a jar exchange program to keep glass in rotation and out of the trash (this is actually what sparked that conversation last week!).
๐๏ธ Upcycled Space: When we were finishing our physical shop space, we kept over 4,000 pounds of tile out of a landfill. We knew it still had a lot of life left in it, even if it was a little "aesthetically challenged!"
๐ฆ Mindful Shipping: When you shop at wiscohomegoods.com, your package will arrive sealed with biodegradable packing tape. Inside, we use biodegradable packing peanuts. If you spot any other packing materials in your box, there is a 99.5% chance they were reused from packages sent to our shop.
Off the top of my head, thatโs a pretty good start. We really do go out of our way to be kind to the earth, and I think is a good reminder to start talking about it more.
Thanks for supporting us, caring about the planet with us, and letting me share a little piece of my heart today. ๐๐ ~Jeremy
