From the red rocks and turquoise water of Espiritu Santo Island to the grey whales of Magdalena Bay, Darren will tell you of his trip with a group of friends to Baja California, a kayaker’s paradise. Clear water, tropical fish, sea lion pups, and baby whale calves are all part of the package. Baja is so much more than resorts and bachelor parties. The people are warm and friendly, the food is excellent (and cheap), and the wildlife is abundant.

Drive less, paddle more: How to boost your time on the water by paddling locally
John Stofflet will share the story of how he went from never kayaking to paddling more than 1,500 miles in 2025 at age 64.
His presentation focuses on boosting your time on the water by spending less time driving and more time paddling, turning your attention to your local waterways. Here in the Madison area, that means waterways like the Yahara River downtown, Starkweather Creek, Turtle Creek, and the four lakes.
Think like a runner, and just get out for a paddle like you would for a jog!
