WOKE UP TO SAD NEWS

Last night around 6:30 the Trinity Methodist Church caught fire from a golf cart that exploded next to it.

It spread quickly đŸ„ș

The community came together even quicker.

Over 65 first responders worked hard to save the steeple and as much of the structure as they could.

Businesses stayed open to help other businesses .

Russ worked the with our friends Mark and Jenny Darnold and helped to feed those who were hungry.

I am so proud of my community♡

I wish I was there to help.

Keep Madison In your Throughts and Prayers♡

A YEAR AGO TODAY MY LIFE CHANGED

We were traveling to Ohio and I got the phone call:

Hello Elizabeth? We have your results from your uterine biopsy and unfortunately we see abnormalities that show cancerous cells...blah blah blah...blah..... cancer....need to schedule an appointment with....blah....blah. . .Louisville.....Women's Cancer......blah........

And I just sat there and looked over at Russ and said " I have cancer."

The emotional toll of that moment is hard to put into words. I was supposed to get on a plane to France in less than 24 hours, and suddenly my mind was spinning with fear, questions, and every “what if” you can imagine.

I called my doctor back, and she told me to absolutely GO.

So I made a decision that day:
I was going to have to push through some serious fear and JUST KEEP GOING!!!

And I am so glad I did.

That moment changed the way I look at life. Over this past year, I have made my health a priority in a way I never had before. I scheduled appointments I had put off for far too long. I made lifestyle changes. I changed my diet. I started listening to my body. I reminded myself to take the trip, try the new thing, make the memory, and stop waiting for the “perfect” time.

I am so grateful that when I noticed something, I did something — even though I was scared.

My outcome was great, and I will forever be grateful for that. But I will also never forget the lesson:

EARLY DETECTION IS CRUCIAL!!

This post is my gentle but serious reminder to you: please put yourself and your health first.
Schedule the appointment.
Ask the question.
Follow up.
Don’t ignore the little signs because you’re busy, scared, or hoping it will go away.
Take the first step.

YOU MATTER MOST!

As I prepare to head off to France tomorrow, I can’t help but reflect on what a difference a year makes. I have learned so much. I have grown so much. And I am so proud of how I feel this year as I prepare to leave.

This time, I will step onto that plane with joy in my heart instead of fear in my steps.

Beth

MULCH IS DONE!!

And honestly
I always look forward to being able to say that because those bags are heavy. 😅

My goal was to have the flower beds finished before I leave for France, and it got done just in time!

This year, I planted white geraniums everywhere — 48 to be exact. I wanted something classic, clean, and pretty for our summer garden style, but also something a little more low-maintenance with my busy travel schedule coming up.

I added a few white verbena in the pots too. I may have over-watered those last year, so hopefully I learned my lesson this time around.

Gardening is always a little bit of beauty, a little bit of experimenting, and a whole lot of hoping for the best. đŸ€

Here’s a mini tour of our little cottage garden in Madison, Indiana. I hope you enjoy!

See you in Stories,
Beth
