FEATURED ARTIST OF THE DAY:
Today's featured artist is Carol Wright. Her studio is EarthKilnFire. She is returning to Paoli Art in the Park and will be in booth 34.
"My story as a ceramic artist began years ago on Madeline Island, LaPointe, WI. I was compelled and inspired to look at the beauty of the island's natural environment, its textures and colors, embracing its culture and incorporating those elements into pottery. The pieces I create are unique from each other, and are functional, decorative or both. The methods used are wheel-thrown, hand built and slab construction. I work with stoneware and porcelain clays. Generally, the surfaces on my pieces vary, balancing technique used in development, artistic vision and personal inspiration. I enjoy implementing sgraffito designs and glaze layering. I get a beautiful gritty or satin finish when participating in a wood firing. I have a story for each piece I make, what inspired me at the moment. It brings me great joy and is humbling when someone touches my pieces and smiles with a nod."
