I LOVE treasure hunting! A couple of weeks ago I saw someone post an estate sale but it wasn’t an estate company doing the sale. I knew I had to go see what they had and prices would be great. Man did I find the treasures! I also realized when I got there that I knew the people holding the sale. The lady told me how they came about having to hold an estate sale. It was apparently the friends’ grandparents house and they had bought it and were going to renovate it the next week. They needed to get the leftover items gone that day.
One treasure I found was a Vintage Sweetheart Stretch Bracelet. Now keep in mind, that I didn’t know the history or the significance of the bracelet. I just thought it was pretty.
It’s been a little over a year since I started “treasure hunting”. I’m still a newbie, but my eye is getting better at “seeing” treasures. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made in this journey. 😊
So back to the bracelet. Apparently it’s called a sweetheart bracelet because the soldiers would give them to their sweethearts to wear while they were off at war. What I found, was it started during WWI and carried on into WWII. The face of the bracelet could be different designs and the bracelet of different metals.
As I studied the bracelet and its history, my mind went back to the man and woman that had owned the house. He had probably served our country during WWII and had given it to her, or it could have been from her father to her mother….oh the possibilities…….I just know it held a special place in a lady’s heart at some point.
What I also learned is that they are very expensive! I can’t wait for the perfect buyer to get this treasure! I’m still researching this exact one.
