Taliswoman Metal Studio

Taliswoman Metal Studio Contemporary Metalworks With A Primitive Urban-Industrial Edge A rusted washer, a newly fallen leaf, tangles of colored string. Decaying industrial detritus.

Ancient cliff dwellings baking in the desert sun. A sewer grate filled with colorful stones. Incandescent berries festooning a bush. Ancient petroglyphs on a sandstone wall. Scraps of colorful packaging lying next to sodden corrogated cardboard. Brightly colored pebbles and shells submerged in shallow water. Peeling plywood weathering under the relentless burning sky. Corroded mining equipment and

vehicles left abandoned to the harsh elements. Texture, pattern, repetition, form, juxtapositions and color, the patina of age delights and wonders. Everything has a story waiting to be told. Everything is waiting for someone to be inspired by its very existence. Things that were useful in one context are reborn as inspiration into another. My artwork, whether it is jewelry that adorns one's body, or an art sculpture to grace a wall, is inspired by the teeming riot of possibilities I see going about in my daily life. Everything is fodder for creativity, regardless of its inherent importance. That is just how I see things.

I am pleased to announce that two of my paintings are included in the 2025 Women's Work Show at Ghostwolf Gallery in Albuquerque! Finally feel confident to show some of the fruits of my labors from the past year of not silversmithing.
Artist Statement:
I used to be a metalsmith, but after a shoulder surgery and subsequent recovery, I HAD to find a new way to create. This has led me to painting, something I had long been interested in but also something I had to teach myself, literally from scratch. I had no idea how to work with these new materials but along the way I realized that working with layers of paint feels a lot like working with metal but in reverse—building up, shaping, and refining until something solid takes form instead of the stamping, gouging and filing I formerly used to reveal the textures in my metal. Learning to use these different materials has been both a challenge and an adventure. While my tools have changed, the process of creating—layer by layer—still feels familiar. As a female artist, I see this new work as an extension of my resilience and reinvention—traits often required of us as we navigate change and redefine ourselves. My art reflects the strength found in transformation and the beauty of embracing new creative paths.

Just in time for the Holidays! I have this classy pair of Black Spinel and Sterling earrings available for a really good price! They hang 2.75" long and "go with" the Black Spinel necklace I posted earlier. They were $62 retail but I'll let them go for $42. If you purchase the necklace for $88 as well I'll give an extra 15% off, or $110 all together! Shipping is available, please message me!

It's been a long while since I have been on here! To bring you all up-to-date, I had surgery for Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome last July (basically a very involved and complex surgery in the neck and shoulder area involving bones and nerves). I am still in the healing phase. I do not yet know if I will ever be able to go back to silversmithing but I remain hopeful. In the meantime, I have a few pieces to offer for sale and would very much appreciate the financial support. My work is also being shown at https://www.facebook.com/alchemystudiomadrid/ and https://www.alchemystudiomadrid.com/

I have a beautiful classic silk-strung tiny faceted Black Spinel necklace with a textured sterling focal bead. It would be a perfect bit of sparkle for your wardrobe for the upcoming holiday sea*on! The necklace is 17" long with a sterling clasp. It was retailing for $135 but I am offering it here for $88 and I will include the
shipping! I a*o have some earrings to match that will be in my next post!

*****SOLD!*****
It's astounding to me that I haven't posted in my Taliswoman account for 8 long months! Here's what is happening folks - I have had to somewhat retire from the jeweler's bench due to an ongoing neck & shoulder issue that's been preventing me from working. After much research and many trips to medical specialists, I will be undergoing a major surgery in the near future. Hopefully once I recover I will be able to resume creating and fabricating new treasures - fingers crossed! In the meantime, I am consolidating down to one gallery - I am still being represented at the Alchemy Studio in Madrid, NM, but I have a few pieces left that I will be featuring and selling here on Instagram and Facebook, like this one-of-a-kind Micaceous Clay Pendant set in textured, oxidized sterling on an adjustable 26" sterling chain. It retailed at $275, I am offering it here for 30% off, which makes it $192, and will include the shipping costs for this! Any sales of my jewelry will directly go towards helping defray the costs I will incur by having a major surgery out-of-state. Send me a DM if interested - thanks in advance for your support!
