: Great Outdoors Month beckons us to go out and explore all that nature has to offer! Celebrated all over the U.S., June is dedicated to the country’s diverse landscapes, which boast dense forests, long winding rivers, tranquil lakes, rocky mountains, and much more. We are not only surrounded by too much technology every day, but the hubbub and the fast-paced life of the 21st century have left many of us drained of energy. Therefore, visiting and exploring the great outdoors will provide us with a much-needed new lease on life, both mentally and physically. As if the mental and physical benefits weren’t enough, celebrating Great Outdoors Month also creates more jobs. No matter where you live, you will find something fun to do in the outdoors with your loved ones! Want some ideas? : It’s Global Day of Parents! Being a parent is one of the most universal experiences, but it’s definitely not a walk in the park. It has its challenges long before kids are even born; with many complications resulting from pregnancy, just having a healthy parent is something to be grateful for. And while many of us didn’t appreciate being nagged to clean our rooms, someone had to help us battle the dust bunnies under our beds. Honestly, if we had never learned to handle tiny responsibilities like that, we’d have no hope of coping with the adult world. So let’s use this day to say ‘thank you’ to our first teachers and nurturers. And if you happen to be a parent, give yourself a big pat on the back!

: Memorial Day conjures images of hamburgers, hot dogs, swimming pools, and summertime for many Americans. But the last Monday in May serves, most importantly, as a time to honor those who died while fighting in the U.S. Armed Forces. It’s a holiday steeped in somber American history and tradition. The day actually began as “Decoration Day,” following the Civil War, when mourners placed flowers on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers. Yes, Memorial Day has also come to signify the “unofficial” start of summer, but let’s remember the heroes who made it all possible!

: The National Rescue Dog Day brings with it a promise of love, friendship, and kindness. Each year, millions of animals, specifically dogs, are abandoned by their owners and end up on the streets. Many of these animals are used to a sheltered life, and this makes it difficult for them to fend for themselves out in the world where food sources are hard to come by. Because Humans and other animals pose a threat to these abandoned animals, animal welfare organizations step in to help by providing a shelter, home, etc. Many of these organizations also encourage people to adopt the dogs, so that they get a new home while creating more space for other dogs in the shelters. Adopting, or even just fostering, helps people and the animals in the long run.
