Hi , friend! I love this part of the soap making process and I’m excited for you to see it.

Once the oils and lye are combined & the add-ins folded/stirred into the batter, it’s time to put the soap batter into the loaf pans. This is where the next stage of soaponification will take place - gel phase. The soap can be cut after this stage is complete.

The soap shown here is You’re Loved which will be available this week on the 16th. You can order now and it will ship Thursday.

Last week I shared with you how all soap starts: blend of oils + lye = real soap. Each of my soaps have a different blend of oils which makes each one have slightly different properties.

This week I wanted to share another part of the process that makes each of my Signature Collection bars different from each other: adds-ins!

“You’re Loved” has honey, dried citrus zest and citrus essential oils mixed or folded into the batter after the oil and lye is combined creating a runny batter with the stick blender.

The soap making process is fascinating! One small change in the process or ingredients can ruin a batch or make it extra special.

Some soap makers find glycerin rivers to be a reason to discard a batch of soap. I completely disagree. I actually kind of like the way that it looks, and there’s nothing wrong with the soap. The glycerin rivers just make it look a little different, but does not affect how it cleans or moisturize the skin.

Can you imagine if God, as our creator, discarded us if we had aesthetic defects? He chooses us, flaws and all. I think I’ll keep these bars on my website as I don’t see a reason to throw them out. Just because they don’t look “right.”

Sometimes when I go to texture the top of my soap, I get impatient. Between the first and third picture there’s a timespan of 20 minutes and several re-swoops on the edges of the loaf’s top.
