Let’s get deep. Let’s talk about deep tissue massage! It should never be painful, you should never be hurt or bruised from sessions.
I love talking about this with new clients that come to me from seeing deep tissue therapists their whole experience because I don’t advertise that way. I never state I offer deep tissue because I don’t. Don’t get me wrong there’s a time & a place for different types of treatments… & there’s wonderful therapists out there who specifically offer deeper pressure massages.
Those clients have stayed with me that are used to deeper pressure. I say I can provide light to firm pressure. I work with my body weight using my forearms & elbows…that pressure is enough to get to the levels you need released, in a slow manner to ensure relaxation stays in the room!
For our bodies to feel safe the pressure has to be introduced slowly & not all at once.

Silly example but the Oobleck, non-Newtonian fluid, acts like a fluid when poured, left alone, or slowly touched but as solid when sudden pressure or force is applied.
When sudden force is applied to muscles they stiffen up to help protect the blow. When we’re gentle they’ll flow with us! 🤪🌀💫
