Back in the 80's these guitars seemed to be everywhere. Oddly, I don't think I've seen one in the last 25 years until yesterday. I always imagined some executive at Kramer who was high on co***ne came up with the bright idea "we need an acoustic guitar that hair metal guys will buy" and the Ferrington was born.
Honestly it's a pretty good guitar but the headstock makes me physically ill. 😄

Here's an update on my Wandre' Rock Oval.
10 years ago it was for sale at Denmark Street Guitars in London. I talked to one person who bought and then returned the guitar not knowing it wasn't "all original." See the first photo.
Then a guy in the UK named Peter bought it and made some changes. See the second photo. I bought the guitar from Peter on Reverb a couple of years ago. It needed a bit of setup work to make it play properly which I did. I used it on one of my songs and in the music video for the song. See the second photo.
One of the things Peter did was replace the fingerboard with one from a Bikini. When I got the guitar the "mod. Bikini" fingerboard inlay was painted over. I removed the paint and last week I hand painted the inlay to read "mod. Rock Oval." It's not perfect but it's the best I can do and I think it looks pretty good.
Peter also "constructed" a more original looking pickguard but I never cared for it so I bought a replica from a guy in the Netherlands. It's a pretty nice pickguard but when the seller says the pickup holes may need to be "worked" to get the pickups to fit that's an understatement. I had to remove a lot of material with my dremel to get the pickups to fit. I wouldn't recommend a novice attempt it. I've been repairing guitars for over 40 years and it took me many hours to get it right.
The guitar had a "hanging" bridge when I got it which looked odd to me. The hanging bridge is going on my Polyphon which had a later bridge installed by a previous owner.
The tailpiece is a replica Peter had made and it looks pretty good.
The only other fiberglass body Rock Oval I've seen is for sale at a place called Mike & Mike's on Reverb and Ebay. They were asking $24k a few years ago but I just looked and it's down to $13k right now. 😁
