🚧 Downtown Manistee Streetscape Project Update 🚧

Construction continues in Downtown Manistee, and downtown businesses remain OPEN and accessible. Thank you for continuing to shop, dine, and support the businesses that make our downtown special while work continues.

📍 Project Progress
River Street between Maple Street and Pine Street reopened to traffic on August 28. Crews have also begun installing permanent street signage.

🔨 This Week
Work continues in the plaza with installation of granite-colored brick pavers, along with the installation of permanent street signage.

🚗 Traffic & Access
• River Street is OPEN to traffic
• The plaza remains closed to traffic while final construction work continues

🚧 Downtown Manistee Streetscape Project Weekly Update 🚧

Downtown businesses remain OPEN and accessible throughout construction, and we encourage the community to continue shopping, dining, and supporting local as improvements continue.

Last week’s progress:
Crews completed cold milling, asphalt paving, and permanent pavement markings from Maple Street to Pine Street. This marks a major milestone in the project.

Brick paver installation in the plaza also continued, with crews reaching the east end using the herringbone pattern.

What’s happening this week:
Crews will continue placing granite-colored brick pavers throughout the plaza. Installation of permanent street signage will also begin.

Traffic update:
• River Street from Maple Street to Pine Street reopened to traffic on August 28, 2026
• While minor work will continue throughout the project area, River Street will remain open to traffic

📣 River Street Parking Notice 📣

A temporary police order is in effect for River Street between Maple Street and Pine Street. Parking will not be permitted Thursday, August 27, as crews begin painting parking spaces and roadway lines. Once the painting is complete and the paint has had time to properly set, this section of River Street will reopen for parking.

Downtown businesses remain open during this work, so please continue to shop, dine, and support local. Thank you for your cooperation while this work is completed!

🚧 Downtown Manistee Streetscape Project Weekly Update 🚧

Downtown businesses remain OPEN and accessible throughout construction, and we encourage the community to continue shopping, dining, and supporting local as improvements continue.

Last week’s progress:
Crews completed concrete work at the Oak Street intersection, along with grading and compacting the aggregate base. Preparation work for paving at Oak Street is now complete.
Brick paver installation in the plaza continued, and electrical conduit and wiring installation at Oak Street has been completed.

What’s happening this week:
Crews will continue placing brick pavers in the plaza, working west to east, and install the handrail on the retaining wall.

Paving operations will begin on River Street with placement of the asphalt base course. Cold milling of the existing asphalt surface will take place from Maple Street to Pine Street, followed by placement of the asphalt top course throughout the entire project. Permanent pavement markings will also be installed.

Traffic update (Important):
• River Street from Maple Street to Pine Street will be CLOSED to all traffic and no parking on August 24th and 25th
• Closure begins at 4:00 AM on August 24th and will reopen by 7:00 AM on August 26th
• Pedestrian access only will be maintained during this closure period
• Detour route remains in place via Maple Street to Water Street
• The Oak Street intersection will have limited access during construction and will be closed at times
• All downtown businesses remain OPEN and accessible within the work zone outside of the full closure period
