We had a wonderful date night at Williams Poultry Auction in Emory this evening. We met the sweetest couple and got to share our date night with another man (very little man). He was not impressed with anything except a red parrot. It was so much fun! Thanks dear for putting up with my shenanigans!

I am always amazed by how tiny quail actually are. This is a regular sized coturnix quail wearing my wedding ring. I have included a pic of my ring on a dime for size reference.

We are a rooster rescue located in Mansfield Texas and so many people ask about what we do with them, do we eat them, or do we fight them. I figured I would make a post so anyone looking to bring us thier roosters will know how things work at the farm. The roosters free range in our back field for the most part. When we start breeding our egg layers for the next season, we rotate them in with our hens until after our hatching season. Some of them we adopt out (for no fee) or rehome for others to be able to breed. We DO NOT fight or process them. The only ones we have ever culled have been gravely ill (there have been 2). We do not eat roosters for a couple of reasons.
1. I couldn't imagine roosters would taste very good.
2. I know thier names so we are friends.
3. My husband and I are entirely too soft hearted.
We just love the roosters. They are much prettier and usually friendlier than our hens. We have a couple of hundred hens. They are cooped and the boys do not have access to them so there is not really any fighting. I hope that answers all of your questions. Everyone that is thinking of dropping one off, we are very happy to show you around the farm so you can see what we do and how everything is set up. We always welcome visitors!
