Safe Enough to Cry

Some people don’t run because they don’t feel.

They run because feeling never felt safe.

They move forward. Shut doors. Find distractions. Leave relationships behind. Keep themselves busy enough that they never have to sit quietly with what happened, what they lost, what they caused, or what happened to them long before any of it began.

But eventually there may come a quiet room.

Nobody to fight.
Nobody to blame.
Nobody asking anything from them.
Nowhere they need to go.

And for the first time, they stop running.

Then everything they buried finally has somewhere safe to go.

This song isn’t about punishment.

It’s about the moment someone finally becomes Safe Enough to Cry.

Because maybe tears aren’t where we break.

Maybe they’re where healing starts.

I have been here more than once in my life. How about you?

How Many Songs

How many songs do I have to write before I finally get to live one?

This one came from one of those days when I picked up the guitar because I needed somewhere to put what I was feeling.

And, of course, another song showed up.

I love making this music. I’m proud of these songs. Somehow heartbreak keeps turning into melodies, healing turns into lyrics, and hope keeps finding its way back into the chorus.

But after a while you have to wonder…

How many songs about love?
How many songs about healing?
How many songs about holding on?

A thousand?
Two thousand?

I’ll keep writing them as long as they keep coming.

But somewhere along the way, I’d really like to stop singing about the life I want and finally get to live it too.

A Different Way

Sometimes the thing you hoped would change everything doesn’t happen.

Morning comes. The coffee gets poured. The world looks exactly the same.

But that doesn’t mean the dream disappeared.

“A Different Way” came from realizing that maybe the life we’re reaching for doesn’t always arrive in one enormous moment. Maybe it comes through the things we build, the chances we take, the ideas we keep following, and a thousand ordinary mornings when we choose to keep going.

Maybe tomorrow.
Maybe someday.
Maybe it simply comes a different way.

If I Had Everything

It was around 2:20 in the morning.

My mind was running through a thousand different scenarios, and I finally realized I wasn’t going to sleep anytime soon.

So I said screw it.

I got dressed, went over to the store, poured myself a cup of coffee, picked up the guitar, and wrote this song.

The thought that started it was simple:

What would I do if I had everything?

What if money wasn’t an obstacle? What if there was enough to go anywhere, buy anything, or simply stop working altogether?

And somewhere in that late-night thinking, I realized something about myself I already knew a long time ago.

I wouldn’t stop.

I’d take care of my family.
I’d take care of my health.
I’d travel and make some memories.
I’d buy myself more time if I could.

But then I’d come home.

And I’d build.

I’d still chase ideas just to see where they could lead. I’d still create things. I’d still work with my hands. I’d still wake up wanting to make tomorrow a little bigger than today.

Maybe having everything isn’t about finally having enough to escape your life.

Maybe it’s discovering that you already love the life you’d choose.

You’d just give it more room.

This is If I Had Everything.

Written somewhere between a sleepless night, a cup of coffee, and a fingerpicked guitar.

The walls gave a little.

Sometimes nothing gets solved.

The hurt is still there.
The questions are still there.
You still have every reason in the world to keep your guard up.

And then somebody says something stupid.

You laugh.

And for just a second, everything you were holding onto loosens.

“And I Laughed” is about that moment. The unexpected crack in the wall where listening replaces preparing, certainty gives way to possibility, and forgiveness finally has enough room to enter.

Not only forgiveness for the person sitting across from you.

Forgiveness for yourself.

Maybe everything wasn’t broken.
Maybe I had just lost the view.
Maybe I could forgive myself.
And maybe forgive you too.

It’s Working

Growth rarely arrives with fireworks.

Most of the time, it comes one ordinary morning at a time.

One more lesson.
One more song.
One more step.

This acoustic piece is a continuation of “Keep Walking.” It’s about realizing that even when progress feels painfully slow, something is changing beneath the surface.

Looking back, I can finally see it.

It’s working.

Keep Walking

There are songs that come from confidence.

And then there are songs like this.

This one came from sitting with the uncomfortable realization that none of us really knows what’s coming. Everything we’re building could change in an instant.

Yet somehow…

We keep moving.

This is just one acoustic guitar and one voice. Nothing to hide behind.

If you’ve ever walked through uncertainty, this song is for you.
