DON’T JUDGE THE GAME BEFORE THE GAME STARTS!

📖 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)

“People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

Rascal Lee was getting ready to watch his Sooners play football when Gerald asked him a question.

🥒 Gerald: “Rascal, what if everybody thinks OU is going to lose?”

🦝 Rascal Lee: “Gerald! They haven’t even played the game yet!”

And you know what, kids? Sometimes we do the same thing to people.

We see someone make a mistake, have a bad day, or struggle with something, and we decide they can’t do any better.

But God sees something we don’t. He sees their heart!

Just because someone is having a hard time doesn’t mean their story is over.

❤️ Today’s Lesson:

Don’t count someone out when God is still writing their story!

Dear Jesus, help us be kind and not judge others by their mistakes. Teach us to see people with love and remember that You know their hearts. Amen.

🦝😎 Rascal & Shades’ Little Devotion

Today’s lesson: God Hears Your Prayers!

Rascal Lee was sitting on the porch, looking very serious.

😎 Shades: “What’s up, Rascal?”

🦝 Rascal: “I’ve got a problem.”

😎 Shades: “What’s wrong, buddy?”

🦝 Rascal: “I wanna talk to God, but I don’t know any big prayer words!”

😎 Shades: “You don’t need big words, dude.”

🦝 Rascal: “YOU DON’T?!”

😎 Shades: “Nope. God wants you to talk to Him. You can tell Him what’s on your heart.”

🦝 Rascal: “Even if I’m scared?”

😎 Shades: “Yep.”

🦝 Rascal: “Even if I’m sad?”

😎 Shades: “Absolutely.”

🦝 Rascal: “Even if I accidentally ate Gerald’s cousin?”

😎 Shades: “Rascal…”

🦝 Rascal: “WHAT?! I’M JUST ASKING!” 🤣

Shades smiled.

😎 Shades: “Rascal, you can talk to God anytime. You don’t have to be perfect.”

Rascal thought for a moment.

🦝 Rascal: “So I can just say, ‘God, thank You for loving me’?”

😎 Shades: “That’s a great prayer, buddy.”

Rascal folded his little paws.

🦝 Rascal: “Dear God, thank You for loving me. Help me be kind, brave, and a good friend. And please help me remember not to eat Gerald’s family. Amen!”

😎 Shades: “Now THAT was a prayer!”

🦝 Rascal: “DO YOU THINK GOD HEARD ME?!”

😎 Shades: “I sure do, buddy.”

❤️ What We Learned

You don’t need fancy words to pray. You can talk to God when you’re happy, sad, scared, or thankful. He hears you!

Dear God, thank You for listening when we pray. Help us remember that we can talk to You anytime, using our own words. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Rascal & Gerald — A Good Friend

🦝 Rascal: “This is Gerald! He’s my new best friend!”

🥒 Gerald: “And Rascal has already shown me what a good friend looks like!”

🦝 Rascal: “I stayed with you all night!”

🥒 Gerald: “You sure did. You also almost dried me out.”

🦝 Rascal: “I said I was sorry!”

The Bible says:

“A friend loves at all times.” — Proverbs 17:17 (NIV)

Being a good friend means caring about someone, listening to them, encouraging them, and sticking beside them when they need you.

Jesus wants us to love people the way He loves us—with kindness, patience, and a caring heart.

So today, ask yourself:

How can I be a good friend to somebody?

🦝 Rascal: “And if your friend is a pickle… keep him in pickle juice.”

🥒 Gerald: “PLEASE.”

🦝😎 Rascal & Shades’ Little Reminder

Jesus Is Bigger Than This

🦝 Rascal: “Look what I found in the Just Chillin trailer! But Shades… Jesus isn’t really this little, is He?”

😎 Shades: “No, buddy. That’s just a little figure that reminds us of Him. The real Jesus is greater than anything we could ever make.”

The Bible says:

“He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” — Colossians 1:17 (NIV)

Sometimes we forget just how big Jesus really is. He created the world, He knows every one of us by name, and there is nothing in our lives too big for Him.

That little figure may fit in Rascal’s paw, but Jesus can hold our whole lives in His hands.

And Rascal noticed something written right across it: Jesus loves you.

🦝 Rascal: “He may be little in my paw, but His love sure isn’t little.”

😎 Shades: “Now you got it, buddy.”

Just a little reminder: Jesus is bigger than anything you’ll ever face, and His love for you is bigger than you could ever imagine. ❤️

🐾 Rascal & Shades’ Little Reminder 😎

Rascal looked at Shades.

“Do you think Jesus knows what’s going to happen tomorrow?”

Shades adjusted his sunglasses. 😎

“Yep.”

Rascal thought for a second.

“So… He’s already there before I get there?”

“Yep.”

Rascal’s eyes got big. 🦝

“Even if tomorrow involves trouble?”

Shades looked at him.

“Especially if YOU’RE involved.” 😎😂

Rascal ignored that part.

After Jesus rose from the dead, Peter went fishing. He didn’t know Jesus was waiting for him.

But when morning came, Jesus was already on the shore.

He had a fire going.

He had breakfast waiting.

And He told Peter, “Come and have breakfast.”

Sometimes we don’t know what tomorrow will bring.

But Jesus does.

And when we get there, we won’t find a place where He forgot about us.

Jesus said:

“Come to me…” — Matthew 11:28

Rascal smiled.

“So Jesus is already waiting?”

Shades nodded. 😎

“Always.”

🦝 Rascal says: “Come to Jesus!”

😎 Shades says: “He’s already there.”
