Are you ready? Are you ready? Are you ready to clown around?

It’s Loontette and Molly, a clown and her dolly, on the Big Comfy Couch! 🌛

I just saw my first Spirit Halloween for the year, so I thought I’d share last year’s Halloween costume! It was a true DIY project.

Since Loonette is quite a “vintage” character, it was hard to find items to make the costume. Molly isn’t in production anymore and eBay prices are through the roof. If I could find a shirt like Loonette’s, it was cheap quality or for children. So, to the drawing board!

With my crochet skills, I thought I could just make a Molly. While no super accurate patterns exist, I found this old TikTok of a girl making her own pattern. She even said she’d send people her rough draft, but I never received a response. So…I screenshotted the notes from the video, transcribed them, and formatted them. And even made my own edits! Eventually, I made post it online for others to use (with credit of course!). But, this is how she turned out! Lots of time and effort in this one…

For the shirt, my lovely coworker and friend helped me with her Circut Machine! She printed all of the moons and noses, applied them with me, and then I drew on the eyes.

Overall, I think this may be one of my best costumes yet! How am I going to top it???

Happy World Embroidery Day 🪡🧵

Established in 2011 by the Swedish Embroiderer’s Guild, the day honors the textile art of stitching, promoting global peace, and bringing people together through creativity.

To celebrate, here are a few pieces I’ve worked on over the past few years! How are you celebrating?

Tea ☕️ & Crafts 🧵

This past weekend, I had the honor of being invited to a lovely Crafternoon Tea! Hosted by my lovely pottery buddy, Kat 💛

I made scones and triple-berry lemonade; some made finger sandwiches, others brought sweets and veggies.

After sipping on our sparkles and tea, we got to crafting—friendship bracelet-style charms for our hand fans! Isn’t that adorable? (Swipe to see the results!)

Thank you for hosting, Kat! It was a lovely afternoon 💖

I 💛 Embroidery

I know that I’m known mostly for my crochet, but two years ago I added this floral embroidery kit to my birthday wishlist and I was hooked.

I’ve done lots of pieces since then, and even gave cross stitch a shot (man, that was a lot of counting…). A lot of my pieces still need to be finished/framed, but once they’re presentable, I can’t wait to share them on here!

Have y’all tried embroidery? I know needlepoint, a branch of embroidery, is all the rage right now! I personally love the freedom that classic embroidery provides. It’s almost impossible to mess up!

Have y’all seen those viral lizard coasters?

Well here they are with a twist! I was recently commissioned to try my hand at making the squashed coaster as a GT Yellow Jacket!

It took some experimenting, but I finally got the tension right to have them do that iconic POP 💥😵

What do you think? Have you seen these and want to make one?

Hey y’all! It’s been a minute!

Since the crochet commissions slowed down after lockdown, I haven’t posted in quite a while. But I’ve been more crafty than ever!

So, welcome back to Isi Makes, where I’ll be sharing my pieces, WIPS, get-togethers, and everything in between!
