ReHome Superstore is a resale store that benefits homeless dogs and cats housed at the Our Pal's Place pet adoption facility.

Our Pal's Place is a 501c3 organization dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats from death in county shelters. These orphans are housed in our pet adoption facility until adopted. All receive veterinary care, are spay/neutered, and attend "good manners" training. Every time we finalize an adoption, we go back into the county shelters to rescue again. The ReHome Superstore was opened in November 2015 t

o generate additional funding to further help homeless pets. The ReHome Superstore accepts donations of like-new or gently used items including furniture, home decor, outdoor furnishings, kids' toys, nice clothing, kitchen items, artwork, pet supplies, office furniture, and "fun find" items. Love is… Volunteering! ❤️

Happy ‘Pal’-entine’s Day! Today we are highlighting our “pals”, our volunteers!

Our Pal’s Place is a volunteer-based organization, so the volunteers are the reason our operations are possible! Our care-giving teams ensure our residents are fed and cared for throughout the day. The Adoption Team works diligently with the public to find forever homes. Our Education team promotes solutions to the problems animals face. We have special events, fundraising, young adult programs, internships… We have a team for everyone, no matter preference or schedule! Come check us out!

To all of our current volunteers: Thank you for everything YOU do! YOU are the reason we are able to find so many dogs their forever homes and give us the space to save even more.

Love is… Supportive! ❤️

Many non-profits exist and rely solely on donations. Our Pal's Place has Lifeline Members who commit to donating on a regular basis, and these monies are used exclusively to keep our Pet Adoption Facility open. Our Lifeline Members allow us to provide safe housing to homeless dogs who otherwise would have been killed in county shelters.

Our business model, however, includes operating our own businesses as well to support our rescue operations. The first business opened was our thrift store, ReHome Superstore. A long search for a store-front near the rescue was a challenge! The few places we found in our price point would not consider us because of the business being new to our operations. No landlord wanted to take a chance on that. Then, we met Charlie Keown who ultimately said, “I’ll take a chance on you.” The proceeds from ReHome Superstore go to our Save-A-Heart Fund which is used exclusively for critical-care and heartworm positive dogs. So, everytime you shop with us you are helping save a life!

The next business opened was Our Pal’s Place Daycare, Boarding & Training (DB&T). Since we had 20 years of experience with the dogs in our Pet Adoption Facility, we wanted to offer our services to our adopters and the public. While people trust us to ensure their beloved pet companions have a lot of fun at playtime during the day and are well-cared for during sleepovers, their money supports our general operations such as repairing the roof when a tree fell two weeks before camp started last summer!

Whether donating directly to Our Pal’s Place rescue operations, shopping at ReHome Superstore or using our Daycare, Boarding & Training services, YOU are helping us save lives!

Love is… Learning! ❤️

At Our Pal’s Place, we believe that education plays a huge role in solving our country’s pet overpopulation problem. Our youth summer camp program, Camp O.P.P., helps us to educate our communities youth while allowing them hands-on time with real rescue dogs waiting for their forever homes! Camp O.P.P. creates a huge positive impact on those who attend. Here’s what Sophie Fleenor, a long-term volunteer who started as a Camp O.P.P. camper almost 14 years ago:

“I began my O.P.P. journey as a camper at Camp O.P.P., our youth summer camp. Walking into camp for the very first time changed my life forever. I had the best time and LOVED spending time with the residents and learning about the problems that homeless pets face in today’s world. I loved using what I had learned at Camp O.P.P. to educate my friends and anyone who would listen. Before I knew it, I had become a junior camp counselor which quickly turned into counselor. I had the best time spending my summers in high school giving the next generation of campers the same amazing experience I had received when I was in their shoes.

Now, a graduate from the University of Georgia, I am using my degree to help with marketing and communication efforts for O.P.P.! I am so thankful to O.P.P. and Camp O.P.P. for helping me discover my passion for animal welfare and non-profit work. Our Pal’s Place taught me a plethora of knowledge that I would never have learned if I hadn’t attended Camp O.P.P.”

Our Pal’s Place offers fun-filled, week long camp programs in June and July where kids play with orphaned puppies, dogs, and sometimes cats housed in our Pet Adoption Facility, participate in activities that help homeless pets and learn about solutions to the problems they face.

Love is … Unwavering! ❤️

Harley came to O.P.P. from a veterinary hospital. A little different story than our normal rescues from death in county shelters… but similar in that Harley too was facing death.

Harley had been abandoned at the local veterinary hospital that ultimately adopted her as their clinic dog. Harley gave blood when dogs needed transfusions, was a surrogate mom for puppies in need and a best friend to the clinic staff. When the local hospital was bought out by a corporate veterinary hospital, they were told to get Harley out or euthanize her. A date was set by corporate and the local staff began working relentlessly to get Harley out. Their challenge was the time needed for Harley to warm up to men in the homes they tried and her disdain for cats. Unwavering in their commitment to their best friend, they contacted O.P.P. desperate for help as the deadline was upon them.

Once at O.P.P. Harley was terrified when her friends left. She had lived in the hospital for years with her best friends and now was uncertain where she had ended up. The next day her friends returned to comfort her and spent hours teaching her how to trust a single O.P.P. volunteer. Weeks later that volunteer taught Harley how to trust other volunteers. Today, Harley enjoys learning new things and sitting in laps! And to this day her best friends from the hospital check on her to ensure she is well. Together we remain unwavering in our commitment to Harley’s well being and ultimately finding her a home!

Love is… Family! ❤️

Late one evening, one of our contacts from Cobb County Animal Services sent a text stating that a bonded pair who were thought to be brothers would be euthanized that night. Our Intake Team was perplexed as to how O.P.P. could help these boys given the county shelter was closed and euthanizing had already begun. Our contact replied that if we would agree to meet the boys the next morning, she would contact the shelter to see if they were still alive and, if so, try to get a reprieve. Hunter and Hayes were still alive and the county agreed to give O.P.P. a chance to meet them! The next morning we were on the doorstep of the county shelter. What we found were two scared boys who just needed a second chance.

Imagine being in a home with your beloved sibling one day and in a loud, overwhelming, stressful environment with them the next. This was the situation of Hunter and Hayes. After almost five months in the Cobb County Animal Shelter, they were put on the kill list. That night, all the boys had left was each other.

After settling in at O.P.P., receiving TLC from our volunteers and feeling a sense of safety, Hunter and Hayes relaxed and their personalities began to shine. They used their love for each other to regain their confidence. Now, they love to play with each other in the yards and go for walks on our trails!

O.P.P. knows how important family can be! We will work tirelessly to find Hunter and Hayes a family who will accept both boys into the home. For Hunter and Hayes this Valentine’s season, “Love Is” finding their family.

Love is… Giving Back!❤️�
Late 2023, a tiny black poodle was abandoned on the doorstep of O.P.P. – Rescue & Pet Adoption Facility. Merely left in a Pamper’s box, the tiny dog made his way out and took cover in the front bushes. Our tuck-in team volunteers arrived to find the empty box and began searching for what had been its content. Finally, they saw the terrified pup and went to help him. As with many small dogs, his reaction was a vicious bark to ward off the people he deemed a threat. The team was finally able to place a towel over him to where they could safely pick him up. Once inside, they uncovered the tiny dog to find him to be one big, fur ball mat. With the help of Gigi, Diva Dogs Mobile Grooming, the tiny dog was rid of the horrible mats so he could see and be comfortable! Soon after, long time O.P.P. supporters and Lifeline Members, Kay and Wayne, drove up from Florida to meet this little guy with the intent of adopting him.

Now named Tiger, this little guy is giving back the love he received while in O.P.P.’s care and from his now forever home to others in need …

“My name is Tiger. I am a trained, registered therapy dog. I have been at our local hospital this afternoon making people smile. On Valentine’s Day, I will deliver flowers to patients’ rooms. That makes people smile!

I also go to elementary schools and help teach students how to approach a dog, dog safety and responsible dog (animal ) ownership. One of my students was terrified of dogs. She was afraid of me and cried. After a little while, I was able to make her feel comfortable and she petted me! She kept coming back for more and more pets. Then, she and I became friends and she had a really big smile. Now she isn’t afraid of dogs.

Today I pass the love I initially received from the OPP volunteers to others when I make them smile. I am so grateful for all who helped me get to where I am today. Love truly is giving back to others!”

Love is ... Patient!❤️

Late 2022, The Heck Family returned to Our Pal's Place to find a new companion as their first O.P.P. dog had recently passed away. The family decision was puppy Scorpio! The family was very patient waiting for Scorpio to be ready to leave his litter mates and visited with him every weekend! During this time, the litter suddenly came down with a skin infection and had to remain in O.P.P.'s care until resolved and healed. Finally, Scorpio, renamed Blaze, was able to go home! Since then, Blaze frequents our Our Pal’s Place Daycare, Boarding & Training (DB&T) when his family travels.

Late 2024, The Heck Family read the story of Jackie and her pups who had been abandoned at a dumpster. Cobb County allowed O.P.P. to care for the young mom and her 5 pups during the required hold period and then released them to O.P.P. so we could find them good homes. The Heck Family decided that Thyme would be a good addition to their family! A plan was put into place for Blaze and Thyme to meet at DB&T and get to know each other. DB&T supports our rescue operations not only monetarily but also by providing adopting families playtime, sleepover, training, and introduction services. Over three visits, Blaze accepted Thyme, now named Bandit, and the two began playing. Now it was time for an in-home introduction. Blaze was not thrilled! However, with patience, love and multiple in-home visits with Bandit, Blaze finally agreed to Bandit joining his family!
