I find that as the time goes by, when each year ticks, I become overwhelmed. Maybe it's the great vastness of the world, maybe the wonder of deep mysticism, maybe just awe over seeing our footsteps behind us.
Sandalwood began almost 20 years before it actually began. In periods of my life I have moved in and out of phases of seemingly unfettered inspired action. The building took its shape then in one of those. Within 2 short years I wasn't doing as planned with it though, and I won't lie, it seemed like a waste.
A wasted photography degree.
A wasted gemology certificate
A wasted accounting degree
A wasted hole dug for a would-be pond
A wasted natural healing certificate
A wasted web developement degree
Etc. Etc. Etc.
Sure, I was also investing a lot of my effort and time in self-development. Trauma recovery, therapy, physical healing, spiritual advancement, etc.
But, what is the important message here is that I never once saw the cumulative path being laid before me.
One thing I have learned without a doubt from this life is that we can have a crystal-clear view of our goals, our history, and our standing, but we cannot ever know what lies ahead. Our futures are an ever-obscured mystery until the time line shifts and the path is before us.
For me, that is a treasure. Because many of those mysteries have been profound gifts that I can't even encapsulate in my deepest gratitude.
Sandalwood is one of those.
My husband is one.
Being able to fold his business into mine is one.
And you all are one.
The last twelve years have been a revolving door of true heart-centeted people that have carried us through every trial, every storm.
You gave me a lot of self-worth when I had none.
A lot of clarity when things were muddy.
And opened doors when all I had known was dead ends.
Ram Dass said, "Treat everyone you meet as if they are God I'm drag" and man, if you all haven't been that in spades.
Every year I remind you,
That swirl on my logo is the gratitude symbol and it represents all that we are: deeply grateful for you and all your support always.
And please don't ever forget that wherever you are, it is not wasted.
