🌿 Did You Know Elephant Ears Can Flower?! 🌸

Because honestly... I didn't! 😂

I've always admired elephant ear plants for their beautiful, dramatic foliage, but I had no idea they could actually produce flowers. Imagine my surprise when I noticed this little flower stalk emerging!

Now I'm just as curious as everyone else to see what happens next. 🌱

I'll be documenting the progression of this unexpected bloom and sharing updates along the way. From the first signs of the flower to seeing what it eventually becomes, we're going to watch it grow together!

Have you ever seen an elephant ear flower before? Or am I the only one who was completely unaware?! 😂

🌿 CUBAN OREGANO — IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW, NOW YOU KNOW! 🌿

So apparently Cuban oregano is out here trying to be the whole damn team. 😂

It's aromatic, it's pretty, it's got that thick, almost succulent-like texture, and it has WAY more uses than a lot of people realize.

🌿 Smells amazing — rub a leaf and you'll understand immediately.

🍳 Great in the kitchen — people use it to add that bold oregano flavor to all kinds of dishes.

🪴 Pretty enough to just grow — those thick leaves and trailing growth make it a really nice-looking plant even if you never eat it.

🌱 Easy to propagate — which is probably a good thing because apparently y'all are determined to make me grow more. 😂

🌿 Traditional/medicinal uses — Cuban oregano has been used traditionally in herbal practices for things like respiratory and digestive complaints. That doesn't mean it's a miracle cure or a replacement for medicine, but there's definitely a long history of people finding uses for this plant beyond the kitchen.

And then there's the variegated Cuban oregano... 😭

I had a beautiful one that I'd been growing for years, and then Florida decided to remind me that yes, we can get frost. 🥶

Lost it last winter.

Still not over it.

So naturally, I'll be trying again. 😂🌱

I've been growing Cuban oregano for years now, and looking back through all these pictures really shows just how much this plant can change as it grows.

It's fragrant. It's useful. It's pretty. It's easy to propagate.

Basically...

Cuban oregano is an all-around juggernaut. 😂🌿
