It's that time of year again and I just set up the Connie's Quilt Shop Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer team! Join us for a fun walk - most of us are glad to be able to walk, not run! And help fund life saving testing and support for people in our community.

The Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer is on Sunday October 4, 2026. It includes the following events: 5k Walk, Family Fun Walk- 1mile-ish, and 5K Run (Timed).

More tops for charity! Info in the previous post!

I have been retired for about a year and a half and didn't do much the first year. But I did enjoy being lazy!

I have started sewing and these pictures are of charity quilt tops I have done using some of the scraps left over from 32 years of shop samples. (Believe me when I say you would not even notice a dent in my scraps!) The tops are all crib to small lap size. A church group in Boxholm, Iowa, (west of Ames) will tie the tops and donate them to charities of their choice. A friend of mine is a member of this group.

The shop is finally cleared out except for the bigger items I couldn't move in my car! (My house on the other hand is a disaster!) I had one bad moment or two when I took my perpetual wooden calendar off the wall for the last time. It had hung in the same spot for 32 years and had been a going away present from my co-workers when I left Colorado. It "only" took me 7 months to shut the door for the last time! It feels good, but I'm also a little sad. My niece and I have started setting up our Etsy store. It will be a little while but I will post it here as soon as we open. Thanks again for your support these past 32 years! I'm so glad I took the chance and opened Connie's Quilt Shop!
