🕯️🖤

As you all know, our dear friend and owner/organizer of Celebrate Samhain, Kevin Sartoris, passed away on August 22nd of this year.

Join with other members of the Community in a tribute to Kevin – the founder and force majeure of Celebrate Samhain for 16 years. Though he is not with us physically, his spirit invites us to help turn the wheel into the festival’s 17th year.

The Memorial Service will be a somber coming together to honor one of our own. So while we happily celebrate the other seven Sabbats, Samhain asks the hard questions and pushes us to look into the dark abyss of death. However, it offers the rare and vital comfort of standing with others of like heart.

The Service will begin with a procession of the Community into the Trafalgar Room at approximately 5 pm.

It is with incredibly great sadness that I am writing this to let you all know that my good friend, and the organizer of Celebrate Samhain, has passed away. He was so beloved in the community, and he did so much, I’m not sure how I can let everyone know of this loss, so please help by spreading the word.

I spent a lot of time with him, between teaching the occasional class at Muse, putting items in his shop, and helping him with Celebrate Samhain. He had a kind and generous heart, and he genuinely cared about people. I am going to miss him greatly.

As far as this year’s Celebrate Samhain event is concerned, it would be a shame for all of Kevin’s hard work to go to waste, and as a friend said to me last night, I don’t think Kevin would have wanted the event to die with him.

If it is at all possible, I am willing to pick up the mantel for this year, and finish what Kevin started, but a lot needs to happen before I can do that… if I’m allowed to do that. So please be patient and stay tuned.

As far as services go for Kevin, I haven’t heard anything yet. I’m sorry.

Rest in Peace, Kevin.
Hail the Traveler.
