Thank all of you for your support as we navigate Ven’s health. I will quickly fill you in on what has been transpiring with our handsome boy.

Sunday he had an episode that we thought was a seizure. He recovered but wasn’t 100% so Monday we took him to the vet and It was determined that he has DCM ( dilated cardiomyopathy) and most likely fainted vs. seized. That being said, he is basically in early stages of heart failure. Gosh, those words get me every time. Anyway, we were given medication to help his heart pump better than it wants to and sent on our way with instructions to keep an eye on him while the medication starts to do its job. Yesterday he seemed better than the day before so things were looking up. Last night however, his breathing became labored to the point of concern and he seemed quite uncomfortable. This morning he would NOT eat! Anyone who has a golden retriever knows this is not normal. It was uncomfortable for him to lay down and his breathing was getting more and more difficult. The amazing people at Stuga North Vet Clinic got us in this morning and discovered that since Monday, fluid was starting to build in his lungs, a symptom of his condition. He was given a shot and we were sent home with a tablet version of the medication used to help remove the fluid. If all goes well, Ven will be able to have a few more days going for walks, chillin at the beach and hanging at the shop.

With all that being said, we are going to stay home today so I can monitor his situation and tend to him when needed, which can be hard to do if I’m chatting with you lovelies. Thank you so much for your understanding while we try to get Ven back on the road to recovery. ❤️
