Meet Helen Grace Muzzy

At 88 years young, Marshfield resident Helen Grace Muzzy is a remarkable example of creativity, craftsmanship, and lifelong learning.

In the late 1960s, Helen taught herself the art of spinning and weaving, beginning a journey that has spanned decades.

Today, she continues to stay busy creating beautiful handmade pieces through spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Every piece reflects years of dedication, patience, and a passion for preserving traditional fiber arts.

We are honored to recognize Helen as our August 417 Local Artist of the Month. Stop by 54 Mercantile to admire her work, purchase something for yourself or a loved one, and help us celebrate a local artist whose talent and dedication continue to inspire our community.

If you are looking for a custom arrangement with a little something special your loved one can keep after the flowers have gone, we can usually find it in the store and I can create a gift for your loved one. This treat/cookie jar was found in The Junkin’ Goose � and Lucy Wheeler’s booth. Isn’t it adorable?! It worked perfectly for what the client was looking for!

This morning, as I was looking around the shop at all these vintage salt and pepper shakers, I couldn’t help but think about Jesus’ words:

“You are the salt of the earth.” — Matthew 5:13

Salt doesn’t just sit there looking pretty—it changes whatever it’s added to.

As Christians, we’re called to do the same.

We should live our faith with authenticity and boldness, adding a little “zing” to a world that can sometimes feel as bland as a bowl of soup. Our kindness should catch people off guard. Our joy should be contagious. Our love should point others to Jesus. Our words should encourage, and our actions should make people wonder what makes us different.

The world doesn’t need us to blend in. It needs us to season it with grace, truth, hope, and love.

So today, don’t be afraid to be the salt. You never know whose life God might use you to flavor.
