Ready Aim Fire Ceramics Studio is the region's only full-production slipcasting and Paint Your Piece art studio. Located in Downtown Martins Ferry, Ohio, we start our process with liquid clay and end with happy customers receiving a finished piece they will cherish as much as the memories they made along the way. We pride ourselves on high-quality ware and delivering an enjoyable customer experience at every step of the way.
We try not to take ourselves too seriously, but we seriously need some help! We are seeking a part-time studio assistant 15-20 hours per week. More hours available during the holiday season (October through December).
Things That Will Make You A Great Fit:
- Have some basic art aptitude: you don't have to be Picasso, but you should know a little bit about paintbrushes, color, and creativity
- Have knowledge of or willingness to learn about the basic workings of low- and mid-fire ceramic glaze
- Be comfortable giving basic instructions on glazing and color choice
- Love meeting new people: we see dozens to hundreds of customers per week, and most ot them love to share stories about what ceramics means to them
- Be able to carry on a conversation with just about anyone: our customers range from teenagers to grandparents, and the average customer spends 1-3 hours in our studio
- Be comfortable in small and large groups: Pick Your Piece may be 1 on 1, but our events can be 25-40 people+
- Believe great customer service is about relationships, not transactions: nearly 85% of our customers are long-term repeat offenders!
- Work well independently and with others
What You'll Do:
- Retail customer service: helping customers pick our colors for glazing, pick up orders, or pick ware from our shelves.
- Assist in production: lighter physical duty parts like cleaning greenware, helping to load and unload kilns
- Packing up finished orders: if you like the match game, you'll love this part
- Unpacking and stocking supply orders
- Helping to finish glazed items for retail: we ship our handmade finished pieces nationwide
- Assist in staffing events both at the studio and off-site: setting up for events, helping guests be seated, filling glaze, cleaning up. It's sometimes like herding cats except you can't give out scritches or say pspspspspsp.
Assisting to keep work areas and tools stocked and clean: cleaning brushes, pallettes and water receptacles, general studio cleaning (don't worry, we have someone else for the toilets and windows!)
The Must-Haves:
- Candidate must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds, including up and down stairs
- Must have your own transportation
-Must be 21+
What's In It For You:
- $12-$15 per hour, depending on experience

This is a permanent, part-time position. Depending on business growth and the candidate's ability to learn the art and business of ceramics this may expand to full-time.
