We have had a great beginning to the All Missouri State Shop Hop. We have had many different travelers coming in this first week. At the same time new fabrics and displays have gone up.

Most important—this is a holiday weekend. We are closed Monday, September 7th to celebrate Labor Day. Enjoy everyone!

We did have many visitors this week. Our highlight was Mike Fortner. He’s been a longarmer for 3 years. His girls (wife and daughter) told him he needed to sew his quilts for himself. When asked if he had done that yet, out came his first quilt. His picture below shows him holding his Bargello United States quilt. Each fabric represents a state. You can see how small these pieces are. Missouri’s fabric is located in/near Maine. It’s quite an accomplishment!

August just blew by us! School has started for some and will start very soon for others! We have two more months for BOM (I’m posting pics from August 1st Saturday). We have also had some wonderful top completions and quilt completions this month.

The All Missouri State Shop Hop begins on September 1st. We are looking forward to seeing all of our Missouri friends.

Classes are going well. Beginning Machine Piecing continues to be a favorite for new quilters. A new group gathering called Scrap Happy Quilting is having wonderful results (there’s a couple of pictures below).

We love the projects that everyone brings in to share. Let us know what else you would like to see in the shop. Notions change often. New fabrics are coming in. New classes will be posted soon. Jelly Roll Day is September 19th! There are now two binders of free patterns to peruse for ideas.

We are excited about the Carnival of Color class tomorrow. We will also introduce our Australian Carnival quilt. This can be such a great scrappy quilt or it can be a planned scrappy with areas like the frames in geometric, the on-point blocks being fussy-cut or the repetition in the rail fence or 9-patch blocks.

Poppa Elli is in the house! Come welcome our happy Christmas elephant to the shop. We have curated 2 1/2” strips ready to make your own. The class is July 25th. There are places where you can make this unique to you. Organization plus one easy technique is the key to this project. It’s good for all skill levels. Hope to see you when you meet Elli!

Wow! June is at its end! How can that be!!??
Let me start by introducing our July schedule:
We will be closed on Saturday, July 4th.
Our first Saturday BOM will meet on July 11th.
Our 3rd Saturday group will meet on July 25th.

While escaping the city for a quiet quilt retreat at LaSalle Retreat Center in Wildwood, this Admin decided to test out the new wool ironing mats available in the shop. This mat from New Zealand is a full 60 inches AND has a grid marked on it. The grid really helped with keeping my rows together for Poppa Elli and keeping them straight as I pressed. I checked the table underneath and there was NO heat transfer. Poppa Elli is scheduled for a class July 29th at the shop. It’s a fun jelly roll friendly project for Christmas. July is the perfect time to start those holiday projects.

It’s hard to believe we are in the middle of May! Spring came in with bad weather days but great stay-at-home days for some good sewing days. We have had some very nice completions. There are notes with each picture. These pictures started in April and go to the present.
