Andy Phillips is only about 40 miles from the USA/Canada border this afternoon on the Bikepacking Roots Great Plains Gravel Route. Looks like he will complete the 3500 miles in 28 days! We are proud to support Andy and his amazing accomplishment!!

Andy Phillips is killing it on the Bikepacking Roots Great Plains Gravel Route! He arrived in Marysville late yesterday at exactly 2000 miles of the Mexico to Canada 3500 mile route. After 15 days, he’s averaging 129 miles per day through Texas, Oklahoma & Kansas. A pit stop at Backroads Bicycle for new tires, chain & brake pads, bacon cheeseburger at Little Hap’s Bar & Grill plus room/shower at Thunderbird Motel all included for his stop in OneMarysville. Early this morning he rolled up the Blue River Rail Trail into Nebraska with riding buddy Harlan. Stay relentless & keep smiling Andy!

Congratulations to one of our new Backroads Bicycle sponsored riders, Andy Phillips from Topeka, KS. Andy finished 2nd Place in the Men’s 128 mile Adventure Single Speed category for the Flint Hills Gravel Ride and Run! Many of you know Andy, but if you don’t, he’s a super nice guy & a cycling Beast. Andy typically rides to an event, competes in the events longest mileage category, and then rides back home the following day, always on his Single Speed! That usually totals up to a 300+ mile event weekend. We are honored to have him on our Backroads Bicycle team competing in the Great Plains Gravel Cup series.

The Great Plains Gravel Route is a 3500-mile bikepacking route connecting the landscapes, communities, and ecosystems of the Great Plains. A collaboration with regional gravel cycling leaders, the route reflects more than a decade of work across the six states.

This spring, riders and .glatter will take on the full route, traversing six states from south to north. They’ll be joined along the way by .alexander.bio, bringing a biologist’s perspective to the Plains, and , documenting the journey as it unfolds.

We’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks, including rider introductions, how to follow along or share your own Great Plains Gravel adventure, and ways to support the work behind the route.
